To produce Grain, you need to farm and harvest either Wheat or Rye then have it threshed in the Farmhouse into Grain.
The first step to making Grain is building a field and farmhouse in the right location. Grain starts out as either Wheat or Rye, so you have to build your farm on top of land with high Emmer or Rye fertility.
You can check out which areas have high fertility while you're plotting your field. The view options will be on the right side of your screen. The greener the area, the better it is for planting Wheat or Rye.
Click on your field and choose Wheat as its crop, then assign some families to your farmhouse. The more families you have working in the farmhouse, the faster you can harvest your Wheat and make Grain.
Rye is a good alternative to Wheat because it is more resistant, and can even be planted in soil with lower fertility. To unlock Rye as a crop, purchase the Rye Cultivation development node.
Click on the farmhouse and select the “Advanced” tab. From here, you will see the “Threshing Priority” option, which is the process of turning Wheat or Rye into Grain.
By setting the threshing priority to high, your farmers will prioritize converting the harvested Wheat or Rye into Grain rather than storing it as a crop. If you plan on stocking up on crops, you can lower the threshing priority.

Grain can be used to produce the following items using the Windmill.
After planting and harvesting Grain, build a Windmill to convert the Grain into Flour. We recommend placing your Windmill in a clear and open area near the farm so it maximizes efficiency and takes less time to transport your goods. You can use the converted Flour from your Windmills to create Bread, which can help increase the food supply in your settlement.
You can also export Grain on its own to get some more Regional Wealth. Prices may fluctuate depending on the supply and demand within a given territory.
