Jutta Qasim Review

Jutta Qasim is a pilot who relies on an excess of evasion and unfortunate circumstances to grow stronger. Unfortunately, that makes him incredibly unreliable in PvE for all but the most controlled lineups and circumstances. On the other hand, it does make him a threat in PvP.

First, his reaction and melee sense buffs rely entirely on evading attacks. But while his mobile suit, the Moon Gundam, does have a fantastic evasion stat, it wholly and collectively expires after the 30-second mark. And even though Jutta Qasim's reaction buffs assuage the situation to some extent, losing all of the Moon Gundam's over 50% evasion stat buff will definitely hurt.

This skill is, however, very serviceable in the Arena, where fights are full of front-loaded damage. Being able to dodge attacks and grow in power quickly is highly profitable there, especially while using a mobile suit that holds the frontline like the Moon Gundam.

Meanwhile, his Skill 2 uses losing allies to provide his mobile suit with a considerable accuracy boost. The issue is that this skill is completely useless in the main quest stages, where you need to keep every one of your allies alive (and any similar stages, for that matter), and nearly so for Phantom Ace.

It's also undesirable for most raid content since losing a unit typically means a drop in a squad's collective performance.

However, just like his Skill 1, this is an excellent effect for Arena and other PvP content where the prevalence of evasion-based units causes most attacks to whiff. The Moon Gundam's massive evasion also ensures that it doesn't fall before it can enjoy its accuracy bonus.

Jutta Qasim is one of those kinds of pilots that work extremely well with their partner mobile suit, but only with their partner mobile suit. This is because, among the very few Yellow-type mobile suits available in the game, only the Moon Gundam can simultaneously fulfill the Protagonist Unit unit category requirement for his Skill 2, and access the melee sense boost from being a Close Combat-category unit.

Not only that, but the Moon Gundam's incredible early-game evasion and frontline position allows Jutta Qasim to very quickly stack his melee sense and reaction buffs. Meanwhile, the only other Close Combat unit currently in the game, the Banshee Norn, doesn't use evasion as part of its kit.
