Chosen Alfonse is the star of this banner as the first Chosen Hero released.
Chosen Heroes improve a target hero on the party, granting them bonuses that are built-in and unconditional.
Chosen Alfonse is a bulky frontline unit that grants Bulwark and Special charges per attack to himself and his allies. His kit comes with a brave effect, Canto, Distant Counter, Gallop, and Atk/Def/Res Great Talent, giving him multiple niches that can fulfill both offensive and defensive roles on the team. He can also set Stone Terrain on enemy phase, further protecting both himself and nearby allies by modifying the terrain to their benefit.

Despite Chosen Alfonse being the first Chosen Hero released, he feels quite clunky and mid compared to other similar archetype options. He is more of a jack-of-all-trades character in a game where specialization is crucial in fulfilling roles assigned to each hero.
While he excels at his role as a bruiser tank with fantastic defensive stats, he does not exceed other metagame heroes in similar roles, and he is not overwhelmingly powerful enough to be the focal point of a team.
We recommend saving your orbs and waiting for future banners, especially the anticipated Winter and New Year banners that will release soon. Historically, these banners have always featured powerful units that become metagame staples, and we expect the same treatment for this year.
