| Red Bokoblin can be easily defeated with a sword or bow. Invite an attack and repel it with a Shield Bash, then strike. |
As Red Bokoblins are one of the first enemies you encounter in the Surface, they serve as a good practice on how combat works in Skyward Sword HD. Learn their basic attacks to learn the basic mechanics of the game.
Red Bokoblin Basic Guard
Bokoblins will ready to block an impending attack with their weapons based on where your sword is pointing. Try to bait their guard by pointing your sword to a given direction then immediately slice from the opposite of that direction.
Red Bokoblin Basic Attack
When they are swinging their weapons, their guards are lowered. Use this opportunity to slash them down.
Use Shield Bash to Stun
Use a Shield Bash by pressing your Left Thumbstick, or shake the Left Joy-Con when using motion controls, at the precise time it attacks. This is your main parry attack and it will stun most enemies, allowing you to freely hack and slash.
