Killstreaks & Scorestreaks are in- game boosts that an Operator can use by getting consecutive kills or obtaining scores. Read on for a complete guide on the mechanics of Killstreaks & Scorestreaks!
List of Contents
Killstreaks are in-game boosts used during multiplayer to turn the tide of battle. They range from recon drones that reveal all enemies in the map, or powerful helicopter gunships that help your team get kills and push objectives.
To earn a killstreak, you will need to kill a certain amount of players without dying. The amount of kills needed will depend on the kind of killstreaks you have equipped.
Similar to other Call of Duty games, player Killstreak counters will restart upon dying. Players opting to go for a Killstreak loadout (especially ones that require a large amount of kills) will have to be more prudent when taking gunfights.
The Chopper Gunner in action
It is also worth noting that kills resulting from Killstreaks do not stack onto your other Killstreaks. This is an additional reason why players that choose to equip Killstreak loadouts should be more cautious especially when they are calling in their Killstreaks.
Manually controlled Killstreaks such as the Wheelson HS and Chopper Gunner leaves the Operator defenseless so the player should try callling in Killstreaks in a secluded area of the map.
Scorestreaks offer the same rewards as Killstreaks but are obtained by reaching certain scores based on the Scorestreak equipped.
Apart from eliminating enemies, an Operator can secure scores through objective-centric actions such as earning assists, fulfilling objectives, utilizing Field Upgrades, and many more.
Much like Killstreaks, Scores will also restart upon dying. Players with Scorestreak loadouts are expected to be more vigilant in taking gunfights and are expected to aim towards achieving objectives in-game.
The Cruise Missile in action
Unlike Killstreaks, Scores obtained from Scorestreaks will stack onto the next Scorestreak in your loadout. This allows objective-centered players to play more passively to secure Scorestreaks, allowing their team to have higher chances of attaining objectives and winning gun fights.
The Beginner's Killstreak Set serves as a standard combo for newcomers that makes use of an attainable first killstreak, a decent middle streak, and a somewhat ambitious third Killstreak.
It is recommended that the following Killstreaks are equipped for newcomers to the game:
Killstreak | Kills/Score | Description |
---|---|---|
UAV | 4/500 | The UAV is a recon ship that reveals enemy locations in the mini-map. |
Cruise Missile | 6/750 | The Cruise Missile sends down a steered missile controlled through a tablet. |
VTOL Jet | 8/1000 | The VTOL Jet is activated through a tablet and sends down two sets of bomb in a designated area of the map. |
As indicated by the Killstreak Set, the Intel-Gathering combo allows an Operator to assume a support role that provides constant information to their respective teams.
For this set, the following Killstreaks are recommended:
Killstreak | Kills/Score | Description |
---|---|---|
UAV | 4/500 | The UAV is a recon ship that reveals enemy locations in the mini-map. |
Overwatch Helo | 8/1000 | The Overwatch Helo is an aircraft that escorts the player, pinging enemy locations and eliminating them in the process. |
Advanced UAV | 12/1500 | The Advanced UAV is a high value Killstreak/Scorestreak that reveals enemy locations in the mini-map in real time. It lasts as long as a standard UAV. |
The Objective-Centered Killstreak Set focuses on locking down objectives by securing certain areas in the map. Objective-minded streaks are meant to hold down tightly contested areas in the map and allow an Operator's team to gain the upper hand.
The following combos are recommended for players looking to play an objective-minded role for their team:
Killstreak | Kills/Score | Description |
---|---|---|
Cluster Mine | 5/625 | The Cluster Mine is a new Killstreak/Scorestreak that takes the form of four claymores. Once set in place, it will detect enemy presence and explode upon contact. |
Sentry Gun | 7/875 | The Sentry Gun are turrets that cover areas where enemy presence is detected. It is great way to pick up kills while focusing on the objective. |
Mortar Strikes | 6/750 | The Mortar Strike is activated through a laser pointer that marks a position where artillery shells are sent to explode. |
The Lone Wolf's Killstreak Set is best used for players that are comfortable with taking on gun fights and building towards high value killstreaks.
Players looking to amp up their Kill/Death ratios may equip the following Killstreaks:
Killstreak | Kills/Score | Description |
---|---|---|
VTOL Jet | 8/1000 | The VTOL Jet is activated through a tablet and sends down two sets of bomb in a designated area of the map. |
Chopper Gunner | 10/1250 | The Chopper Gunner pinpoints and kills enemies from the air, making it a hard Killstreak/Scorestreak to counter. |
Gunship | 12/1500 | The Gunship is a heavy assault aerial Killstreak/Scorestreak that grants three powerful armaments: laser tracking missile, 40mm cannons, and 25mm cannons. |
