The Moonstone Axe is automatically unlocked in the Crossroads but still needs to be crafted.
This weapon has a shorter range and slow attacks, but makes up for it with high damage and AoE, centered on a more heavy-weapon playstyle.

Zeus Boons for Damage Boost
Zeus' Boons for Attack apply a Blitz effect that deals additional damage upon reaching 120 damage against that target. The Moonstone Axe's high damage output easily triggers Blitz, essentially doubling your damage output.
You can also choose Zeus' Static Shock if available, since it makes your attacks produce a chain lightning that deals with groups of enemies quickly.
Apollo Boons for Daze
One of the Weaknesses of the Moonstone Axe is that its Attack animations are extremely slow, putting you in a vulnerable state when performing your combos.
Applying Daze on your enemies via attacks, or dashes gives you an additional layer of survivability, since enemies will sometimes deal 0 damage, which can be the difference between life and death in certain scenarios.

Aphrodite Boons for Close Ranged Damage
Moonstone Axe's range is relatively short, so it should benefit from Aphrodite's close range damage Boons.
Aphrodite also gives boons that weaken enemies, reducing their damage against you, which is great for Moonstone Axe's playstyle, since you will not be able to effectively dodge all incoming attacks during your combos.

Best Hammer Upgrades for Moonstone Axe
Empowering Guard
Empowering Guard gives you a +50% damage boost for 15 seconds after blocking an attack. With this upgrade, you can simply block one attack or projectile, then spend the rest of the time clearing out enemies.
This is also great against bosses, since you just need to block an attack from them, spend 15 seconds damaging the boss, then block another instance of damage to refresh the buff's duration.
