Since Chronos is the Titan of time, Pausing the game and Selene's Slowing Hex have no effect on Chronos.
Boons that increase Melinoe's speed, however still work normally, only those that should slow Chronos are disabled.
For the first Phase against Chronos, try to deal damage from a distance. Most of Chronos' attacks during this part of the fight are close ranged, and deal high amounts of damage.
Chronos also has a number of dashes he can utilize, so try to dash away as much as possible to keep yourself safe from his other attacks.
While having good Boons and additional HP or Armor definitely makes the fight easier, it all boils down to your ability to choose when to dodge and when to attack.
Chronos, like all the other enemies in this game have a wind-up animation before each attack, so time your dashes when you know an attack is coming to minimize the risk of getting hit.

Dodging should be your number one priority instead of dealing damage during the second phase. Chronos uses one-hit KO moves during this phase that can easily end your run, so patience is key.
Even outside of Chronos' one-hit KO moves, getting hit by his other moves can whittle down your HP quickly if you are not careful.
Apollo's Daze and Hermes' Move Speed Boons can be the difference between life and death against Chronos' second phase.
Daze has a chance to make attacks miss, allowing you to survive even Chronos' most lethal attacks. Move Speed boons, on the other hand allow you to run to safety faster, especially during Chronos' wide-range attacks.
Death Defiance is a great lifeline against Chronos if you are able to keep them until you reach Chronos. The easiest to obtain would be the Eternity Arcana.
Bringing Toula, the Cat Familiar provides an additional Death Defiance, and Moros or Schelemeus' Keepsake provides an additional, granting you up to three Death Defiances.

Chronos is described as the Titan of Time in the game, and the primary antagonist of Hades 2. He has imprisoned his son Hades, the god of the Underworld, and has set his sights on Olympus to wage a war against the Gods.
Chronos is the Final Boss of the Underworld, appearing at the end of Tartarus. Chronos is the most difficult boss to beat, disabling several key gameplay elements such as pausing and slowing down time.
The Chronos boss fight also has two Phases, with the second phase being extremely harder than the first.
Not much is known about Chronos during the events of the first game. He is widely known for his role in Hades 2 as the Titan who escaped imprisonment from the underworld and was made captive of its ruler, Hades.
His war against Olympus has set the Olympians on edge, as evident by Melinoe's encounter with gods and goddesses that have sought to rid of the Titan's conquest once and for all.
Chronos was the leader of the Titans, powerful beings that ruled the Earth before the Olympians. He was mostly associated as the personification of Time, and for usurping the rule of his father Uranus.
Chronos' greed for power led to the cannibalization of his children, as it was prophesized that he would one day be overthrown by his kin.
In an act of desperation to save her remaining children, his wife Rhea hid the youngest of their children named Zeus. As the boy grew into a god, Zeus led the campaign to overthrow Chronos and free his siblings from his grasp.
For his crimes, Chronos was imprisoned in the Underworld by his children and was left to suffer in the land of the dead.
