Selene Guide: How to Use Hexes and Synergies

Selene is one of the four Moon Sisters, along with Melinoe, Hecate, and Artemis. She provides Melinoe with Hexes instead of Boons to aid her on her task to defeat Chronos.

Provides Hexes During Runs

When you meet Selene for the first time in a run, you'll get to choose a Hex for Melinoe. Hexes are are unique and powerful techniques, akin to an ultimate move.

If you're going for a Magick-heavy build, consider taking a Hex with high Magick requirements since you'll be able to charge it easily and are stronger. Otherwise, you might find it difficult to use the costlier Hexes if you have low Magick.

The potency of Hexes are also determined by its Moonglow which determines how many upgrade points it has for the Path of Stars.

Charge Your Hex with Omega Moves

Charge your Hex by using Omega Moves until the Hex icon above the Magick gauge is glowing and ready. A crescent icon will also appear above Melinoe so you can stay focused in combat.

When your Hex is ready, press the Hex button (RT on Xbox controller) to activate it. Hexes may need to be aimed or put you out of position, so use it carefully.

Magick Guide and Omega Moves

Upgrade Hex with the Path of Stars

Hexes are upgraded differently from other Boons. Subsequent encounters with Selene in a run will present you with the Path of Stars, a skill tree that provides enhancements for your Hex.

Spend upgrade points on the Path of Stars depending on your needs at the moment or your preferred play style. Upgrade points are dependent on the Hex's Moonglow, and you can earn more upgrade points by equipping the Moon Beam, Selene's Keepsake.

Note that Hexes and their upgrades do not carry over between runs!

Selene Synergies

Hexes Work Best With Magick-Heavy Builds

The Hexes offered by Selene can work well with most Boons that improve Omega Moves or Zeus' Boons which increase Magick consumption.

Leaning towards a Magick-heavy build will allow you to fire off Omega Moves more frequently, thus charging your Hex faster.

Selene Curse and Effects

Twilight Curse Applies Morph

Selene's Twilight Curse afflicts enemies with Morph, turning them into harmless critters, allowing you to attack with reckless abandon, or channel your powerful attacks without fear of getting hit.

It fires an orb that slowly seeks targets and bounces off enemies, applying Morph one at a time.

Relationship with Selene

Receive the Moon Beam Keepsake

The Moon Beam Keepsake adds extra upgrade points in the Path of Stars, allowing you to activate more nodes.

It's recommended to only equip the Moon Beam during a run once you already have a Hex to take advantage of the added upgrade points.

The Moon Beam does not increase the likelihood of a Hex to appear, so you're better off using a different Keepsake at the start of a run.
