Hades 2 can be a bit complex with all the terms that are vital to gameplay. Here's a list of gameplay terms from in-game tool tips that we have compiled in 8 sections to help you:

Crossroads | The Unseen reside in this liminal space between the Underworld and the surface. |
Location | Various places comprising the Regions of the world beyond the Crossroads. |

Term | Description |
---|---|
Blitz | Curse: After taking 120 damage, afflicted foes get struck by lightning. Lasts 3 Sec. |
Common | Blessings from the gods are extraordinary by nature, but this is the garden variety. |
Crescent Moonglow | This Hex has no special bonuses; the sheer might of the Moon shall haveve to suffice. |
Daze | Curse: Afflicted foes have 20% chance to deal no damage. Lasts 9 Sec. |
Freeze | Curse: Afflicted foes are stopped for 2 Sec. Can be re-applied after 10 Sec. |
Full Moonglow | This Hex has the most potential; it gains +2 upgrades from your next Path of Stars. |
Half Moonglow | This Hex has greater potential; it gains +1 upgrade from your next Path of Stars. |
Heartthrob | An explosive projectile that revolves around you. Expires after 20 Sec. |
Hex | After using enough Magick while foes are near, press the Hex button to invoke the Moon's might. |
Marked | Curse: Afflicted foes have +30% chance to take Critical damage. Lasts 6 Sec. |
Morph | Curse: Afflicted foes turn into harmless critters. Lasts 8 Sec. |
Path of Stars | Grants your choice of 3 interconnected upgrades for your Hex this night. |
Rarify | When choosing Boons, press the special button to boost the Rarity of one that isn't already too rare. |
Rarity | Boons sometimes have superior effects, noted as Rare, Epic, and more. |
Sacrifice | This Boon has improved Rarity, but requires you to give up a boon in the same slot. |
Scorch | Curse: Afflicted foes take 40 damage accrued from this every 1 Sec. |
Slip | Curse: Afflicted foes take more damage and are knocked farther away. Lasts 3 Sec. |
Spirit Bubble | Restores 20 Magick when you touch it. Expires when used, or after 30 Sec. |
Vent | Curse: After 5 Sec., afflicted foes take a burst of damage. Timer resets if re-applied. |
Weak | Curse: Afflicted foes deal at least 10% less damage. Lasts 3 Sec. |
Cyclone | A vortex that makes foes 20% slower and their ranged shots 60% slower. Lasts 3 Sec. |
Hitch | Curse: Afflicted foes take 30% of damage dealt to other afflicted foes. Lasts 8 Sec. |
Water | Boons imbued with the element of Water. |
Air | Boons imbued with the element of Air. |
Fire | Boons imbued with the element of Fire. |
Duo | Blessings with the power of two different gods, offered to those favored by both. |
Earth | Boons imbued with the element of Earth. |
Aether | Boons imbued with the element of Aether. |

Armor | Elite foes cannot be stunned or knocked away until you break their golden barriers. |
Boon | Blessings from the Olympians, bestowing godlike power for this night. |
Critical | A devastating blow that deals +200% damage or greater. |
Death Defiance | When you fall to 0 Life, automatically restore 40% Life and Magic. Limited uses per night. |
Encounter | The dangerous kind; you must withstand your foes before you can proceed. |

Fountains | Drinking from these fixtures restores some Life to the living. |
God Mode | A state in which you are even tougher; after you die, you grow a little tougher still. |
Guardian | Mighty foes identifiable by lengthy life bars with their names on them. |
Healing | A means of recovering some Life after taking damage. |
Impervious | A state in which you are completely invulnerable to damage. |
Life | How much damage you can withstand this night. |
Magick | Required for powerful Omega moves. |
Max Life | An increase to your Life limit, restoring you by the amount added. |
Max Magick | An increase to your Magick limit. |
Outfit | A special look and bonus that lasts till your Armor is depleted from taking damage. |
Power | An increase to the base amount of damage you inflict. Other bonuses multiply by this. |
Prime | A passive reduction to your magick limit until the next Location. |
Weapon | Press or hold the Attack or Special button to use your main weapon in a variety of ways. |
Shells | Ammunition for your Attacks. Retrieve from the field to re-use. |
Inferno-Bomb | Caustic explosives that are harmful to you, yet somehow pose no threat to your foes. |

Attack | Press the attack button for your weapon's main attack. |
Attacks | Press the attack button for your weapon's main attack, or hold the attack button to use Magick for a stronger effect. |
Casts | Press the cast button for a binding spell, or hold the cast button to use Magick for the damaging Omega version. |
Channel | Press-and-hold to imbue your move with Magick to prepare a powerful Omega effect. |
Dash | Press the dash button to rush forward a short distance, avoiding any damage. |
Dash-Strike | Press the dash button then immediately press the attack button to attack. |
Omega Attack | Hold Attack to use Magick for your weapon's magick-imbued attack. |
Omega Cast | Hold the cast button to use Magick for a binding spell that damages foes when it expires. |
Omega Moves | Press-and-hold the attack button, the special button, or the cast button, to imbue them with Magick. |
Omega Special | Hold Special to use Magick for your weapon's magick-imbued special move. |
Power Shot | Hold the special button then release when you see a brief flash for a stronger shot. |
Special | Press the special button for your weapon's special move. |
Specials | Press the special button for your weapon's special move, or hold the special button to use Magick for a stronger effect. |
Sprint | Hold the run button to run at top speed. |

Gold Crowns | Trade for valuables. You lose any you have not spent when you return each night. |
Lone Shades | Lingering Spirits found in some Encounters, wallowing in search of meaning. |
Minor Find | Rewards that grant resources, such as Ashes and Psyche. Found in locations marked with the Minor Boon crest. |
Mysery Seeds | May grow to become one of several different kinds of valuable plants. |
Nightshade | Mostly used with incantations involving obscurity and death. |
Nightshade Seeds | In 5 nights, grow into noxious plants. |
Psyche | Mostly used to raise Grasp, to activate more Arcana Cards. |
Silver | Mostly used for unlocking Main Weapons. |
