How to Unseal the Ward

Unlock Permeation of Witching-Wards Incantation

This can be unlocked after meeting Hermes for the first time and then meeting Hecate. You do not have to defeat Hecate to acquire the incantation.

Perform the Permeation of Witching-Wards Incantation

Back at the Crossroads, in order for you to unseal the Ward that is blocking the stairs going up, you need to chant the incantation Permeation of Witching-Wards at the cauldron. Once you have this chanted, the Ward blocking the stairs up will disappear and let you enter.

How to Get Shadow

To craft Shadow, you need use alchemy at the cauldron. Shadow requires Ashes x30, Psyche x30, and Fate Fabric x3 and 12 While(s) to completely finish crafting.

How to Survive on the Surface

Chant Unraveling A Fateful Bond

When you reach the Surface, you will consistently get damaged as you play. In order for you to survive, you need to unlock the incantation Unraveling A Fateful Bond. This will remove the consistent damage and allow you to survive being in the Surface.
