How to Unlock Witch's Staff

Available at the Start

The Witch's Staff is Melinoe's default weapon, and you will start the game with this Nocturnal Arm.

This weapon has decent range and damage, allowing for versatile playstyles. Whether you like to deal damage up close or from afar, the Witch's Staff can do both, given that you have the right Boons.

Hephaestus Boons for AoE Damage

Hephaestus' Boons for Attack and Special give an additional Blast effect, increasing your initial damage, and dealing the same amount of damage to nearby enemies.

This is great together with the Witch's Staff since it has decent range, but lower damage output, so increasing your damage output and an AoE attack allows you to defeat groups of enemies faster.

Hestia Boons for Burn

The Burn effect from Hestia's Boons provide an additional damage over time for your attacks, allowing you to hit your opponent several times, then focus on dodging while their HP goes down from the burn.

With Boons that make breaking armor easier, this is a great option to run with Witch's Staff to deal with Guardians and Bosses.

Poseidon Boons for Splash Damage

The Attack Boon from Poseidon gives your last attack a Splash Damage buff, similar to when breaking terrain. With proper positioning, you can use Poseidon's Boons together with the Witch's Staff to deal with groups of enemies at a time.

Spirit Bubbles from Poseidon's Boons can also help you against stronger enemies, since you will be able to spam Omega Attacks without having to worry about your Magick running out.

Best Hammer Upgrades for Witch's Staff

Rapid Moonfire

Rapid Moonfire enhances Witch's Staff's Specials, allowing you to fight from a distance, and focus on dodging enemy attacks and projectiles.

The enhanced velocity of Rapid Moonfire also increases its accuracy, since the Special's projectiles should still hit moving enemies as long as they are not too far from you.

Double Moonshot

Double Moonshot is also a great Hammer Upgrade since it fires additional homing projectiles when you use your Special. This reduces your reliance on aiming, so you can essentially spam your Special and your attacks will seek enemies on their own.

When you have Double Moonshot, you only need to worry about dodging and repositioning, since your attacks will almost always hit the enemies.

Shimmering Moonshot

Shimmering Moonshot is another Upgrade that augments your Special, and causes it to bounce from targets, and deal more damage with each bounce.

While not as simple as Double Moonshot's homing projectiles, the bouncing projectile is great for enemy groups, since you only need to launch your Special once, and let the projectile bounce between the enemies.
