Defeat Hecate Three Times

To unlock the Book of Shadows, you have to defeat Hecate three times. After that, she will vanish and you will receive the Book of Shadows.

What is the Book of Shadows?

Book of Shadows

The Book of Shadows is a codex that contains information based on your recent lore encounters. Every time you encounter something new such as enemies and NPCs, the Book of Shadows will update itself automatically.

Keep Track of Enemies Vanquished

Keep Track of Enemies

You can also see how many times you have vanquished an enemy in the Book of Shadows. Increasing the counter will add more lore paragraphs to their description.

Relationship Progress

Relationship Progress

When you have the Incantation, Empath's Intuition, your relationship progress can be seen on each character entry in the Book of Shadows. Keep in mind to pick up Nectar on your runs to help improve your relationship with other characters.

Press the ↑ Button

How to Use the Book of Shadows

To use the Book of Shadows, you have to press the ↑ button on your directional pad or press C on your keyboard. Doing so will open the menu for the Book of Shadows.
