Hecate, Witch of the Crossroads, is the first boss of the Underworld in Hades 2, appearing at the end of the Erebus. Learn how to counter all of Hecate's attacks, and the easiest way to beat her.

Use Special Attacks

With the early game weapons at your disposal, most of its Special Attacks have longer range than Hecate's common attacks. Since these do not cost any Magick to cast, you can focus on dodging and spam Specials from afar to whittle down Hecate's HP.

If you have Boons that augment your Special, the battle will become much more easier, since dealing higher damage means you get to defeat Hecate faster.

Try to Get HP Buffs or Armor

Rolling a Location with Arachne ultimately falls to chance, so getting an Armor from her can be quite tricky. HP Buffs are more common, so you should choose these over item rewards.

Whenever you have an opportunity to choose an Armor piece from Arachne or an HP Buff, you should always take it, to add a layer of protection against Hecate's barrage of attacks.

Familiarize Yourself With Hecate's Attacks

While having good Boons and additional HP or Armor definitely makes the fight easier, it all boils down to your ability to choose when to dodge and when to attack Hecate.

Hecate, like all the other enemies in this game have a wind-up animation before each attack, so time your dashes when you know an attack is coming to minimize the risk of getting hit.

Hecate mainly focuses on close range and mid-range attacks. Fighting from a distance essentially nullifies half of Hecate's moveset, so always opt for ranged attacks if you can.

Focus on getting Special boons if you are struggling against Hecate, since you can easily defeat her with the Witch's Staff or Sister Blade's Specials.
