Farming Guide: How to Grow Nightshade and Other Plants

Farming is a new mechanic for obtaining items introduced in Hades 2. Check out this guide to find out more about how to grow plants, where to find them, and what they are for here in Hades 2!

How to Grow Plants

Unlock Flourishing Soil

Incantation	Effects	Cost
Flourishing Soil	Create two Soil Plots, for growing Nightshade and other plants. Grants +1 Nightshade Seeds.	・Moly x1

In order to start planting, you need to have at least unlocked the Flourishing Soil and a seed to use in your inventory.

Once you have the Incantation, you can start planting immediately near the entrance to the training area at the Crossroads. In order for the seed to grow, you need to take a set amount of Encounters in one of your runs.

Best Incantations to Get Early

Unlock More Soil Plots

Incantation	Effects	Cost
Rich Soil	Create two additional Soil Plots near the grove.	・Lotus x3
Verdant Soil	Create two final Soil Plots near the grove.	・Wheat x1 ・Garlic x1

You can also increase your amount of plots by completing the Incantations Rich Soil, which will appear at your Cauldron after you have harvested 3 plants or collected all necessary ingredients, and Verdant Soil, which appears after its precursory Incantation is completed and discovered its required ingredients.

These add two more plots to your garden per Incantation completed, earning you a maximum of 6 plots for a complete garden.

Where to Find Seeds

Digging Spots Drop Seeds

Seeds can be found from Digging Spots that randomly spawn throughout your runs across all regions. These spots can only be dug when you have the Silver Spade tool equipped.

What are Plants For?

To Obtain Materials

Greeneries are generally used as unlock requirements for certain Incantations and selling them to the Wretched Broker will earn you a good amount of Bones.

One of the most profitable to trade would be the Deathcap which can be found throughout your runs during rainy weather, as it is not required as an ingredient for any Incantations .

The Wretched Broker can trade your plants for a good amount of Bones. Do keep in mind that once you sell them, you can no longer get them back.
