What Does Defence Do?

Reduce Damage of Incoming Attacks

Defence determines how much damage is mitigated for your characters. It's calculated along with their Resilience stat, making both important for maximizing tankiness.

Equip Armor Pieces

Defence can be raised through Armor Pieces equipped by your character.

Stronger Armor can be found as you progress the story, as rewards from quests, or found as loot.

Vocation Stat Change

Vocations

Depending on your character's Vocation, they can also receive additional Defence, raising it by a certain percentage.

Keep in mind, however that some Vocations decrease Defence such as the Mage Vocation.
