When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Arion will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Arion are +Def and -Res. Boosting Def improves both his bulk and his damage output through Heired Gungnir's bonus damage effect.
Arion's Res is below average at only base 21 and can be safely taken as a bane.
We recommend +Def when merging Arion up to +10 to maximize his physical bulk and fulfill his tanking role as best as he can.

Arion is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Arion's exclusive weapon Heired Gungnir grants Def+3 and removes his weakness to bows and other weapons that deal effective damage against fliers.
At the start of each turn, Heired Gungnir grants Atk/Def+6 and 【Charge】 to Arion and flying allies within 2 spaces of Arion. This effect is amazing as it improves offense, bulk, and mobility at the same time.
In combat, Heired Gungnir grants Arion Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5, a guaranteed follow-up attack, and bonus damage equal to 15% of his Def.
While Arion's weakness to bows is patched by Heired Gungnir, his abysmal Res remains a major weakness to exploit.
Having only 21 base Res, any unit that deals magical damage will easily dent Arion or even bring him down. Keep him away from these foes to ensure his survival!
