When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Tempest Trials, Summer Rhys will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Summer Rhys are +Atk and -Def. Summer Rhys has a high Atk stat for a staff unit, so he is perfect for shaving off enemy unit's HP to make it easier for your bonus units to finish them off in the Arena. He is meant to tank magic attacks and not physical attacks so his best bane would be -Def.
We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Summer Rhys to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, he reaches a whopping 53 Atk at max merges. If you prefer scoring follow-up attacks instead, take a +Spd IV. This will also protect her from hostile follow-up attacks. Together with Palm Staff+'s effects and some support from allies, Rhys can be a deceptively speedy unit.

This is a somewhat cheap build for Summer Rhys that allows him to tank magic allies as long as he is near allies. Depending on your needs, get a staff upgrade whether it would be Dazzling Staff or Wrathful Staff.

This budget build for Summer Rhys allows him to provide healing, buffs, and surprsingly hard-hitting attacks. Make sure to get the Wrathful Staff upgrade for his staff. If you do not prefer Wings of Mercy 3, you can just get Dazzling Staff 3 for his B slot.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Summer Rhys is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Palm Staff+ inflicts -3 Atk/Spd to foes within 2 spaces during combat. It works in both phases and any ally can take advantage of this debuff as long as Summer Rhys is within range of the enemy unit.
Summer Rhys has a fairly high Atk stat for a staff user. Getting the Dazzling Staff refine allows him to engage enemies without the risk of counterattacks.
Healing is not always needed in battles so to fully make use of Summer Rhys, he may need to attack foes in some situations. Shaving-off enemies' HP important in Arena Scoring as it makes it easy for your bonus units to land the finishing blow.
Summer Rhys' Spd and Def sit at 27 and 21 respectively at Lv.40. Even physical attackers with average Spd can double him and take him out easily! Utilize his ranged healing ability to make sure that he is always out of range of physical enemies.
