When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Atk/-HP

The best IVs for Mathilda are +Atk and -HP. A +Atk helps her increase her mediocre Atk stat. Whether you are using Knightly Lance or Ridersbane+, this IV is best for her. HP is of less importance to her so it can be safely taken as her bane.

+Spd for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Mathilda to 10. At +10 Merges, Mathilda's will reach acceptable levels of Atk. At this point, it would be more efficient to opt with a +Spd IV instead to help her take less follow-up attacks and allow her to make some follow-up attacks on her own.

How to Use, Explanation

This build makes Mathilda an effective tank in Aether Raids. Take the +Eff refine for Knightly Lance so she can support her partner and sustain with Noontime. Mathilda has poor speed to begin with, so Quick Riposte 3 is a must-have so she can counter.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Knightly Lance

This upgrade is pretty convenient to trigger and very helpful if you plan for maps in advance. It grants Mathilda and her support partner +3 to all stats just by being within 2 spaces of each other! This completely stacks with the support partner bonus gained through the same trigger conditions.

If they are adjacent to each other, they gain a massive +5 to all stats because of the ally support bonus. Since both are in-combat bonuses, it easily stacks with other kinds of buffs

Mathilda is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Mathilda Strengths

Powerful against cavalry

With her 4★ weapon skill Ridersbane+, Mathilda can deal 1.5x damage to cavalry units. On top of this, the weapon can be refined to nullify cavalry foes' exclusive buffs, so if you need a designated horse slayer, do not look past Mathilda.

Take note that her 5★ weapon, Knightly Lance does not possess effectiveness against cavalry foes!

Cancel Affinity grants preferrable match-ups against green units!

Cancel Affinity 3 completely neutralizes skill effects like Triangle Adept 3! It also allows Mathilda to receive and deal 1.0x damage from green units—units that she would normally be at a disadvantage with. These effects widen the preferrable match-up Mathilda has access to.

Respectable Res stat!

Mathilda sports a respectable 34 Res at Lv. 40. This is quite high among her fellow cavalry units. It can be said that this attribute allows her to fill-in specific niches in your line-ups.

Mathilda Weaknesses

Lackluster firepower if using Ridersbane+

Mathilda will have a base Atk stat of 43 if she sports Ridersbane+. While this might be enough to take out many cavalry units, she may lack the pinch needed to take out non-cavalry enemies. Make sure to supplement her Atk with skills like Hone Cavalry from her allies!

If she opts with Knightly Lance, the rapid activation of a special attack is enough to boost her offense to a respectable range. Check out her builds section to know which specials to inherit onto her.

Low Def

Mathilda's Def only sits at 24 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for physical units to take her out. Be mindful of Mathilda's positioning in relation to physical units that can easily take her out.
