+Spd/-Res

The best IVs for Ogma are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Ogma to get more of follow-up attacks on his foes. It also makes him less susceptible to follow-up attacks from foes. Since his Def is a superbane, it is best to take a Res as his bane instead. Take note that this puts his Res into very low levels so stay clear of magic units, even green ones, when using Ogma.

How to Use, Explanation

Ogma with a Gladiator's Blade functions very differently from an Ogma that runs a Brave Sword+. His prf. weapon does not inflict a -Spd debuff nor does it give him dual strikes. Instead, it accelerates his Special charge if he enters combat and wins an Atk check. It also provides him with an Atk/Spd boost if it has the spec. refine. The goal of this build is to help win him said Atk checks and score follow-up attacks! Once Desperation 3 kicks in, you can expect lots of one-sided battles in the player phase.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Gladiator's Blade

The special effect refine for Gladiator's Blade significantly boosts Ogma's offensive ability as it grants him +4 Atk/Spd which helps him deal more damage. The Atk buff also helps wih the other effect of Gladiator's Blade that grants him +1 special cooldown charge if his Atk is more than his foe's Atk. The only trigger condition for the Atk/Spd buff is him being 2 spaces of a flying or an infantry ally. With some strategy, you will be able to keep this online most of the time!

Ogma is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Ogma Strengths

Gladiator's Blade special refinement effect significantly boosts offensive potential

Gladiator's Blade not only speeds-up Ogma's special cooldown, but it also grants him +4 Atk/Spd whenever he is in 2 spaces of an infantry or a flying ally. It is fairly easy to trigger and take advantage of so we recommend getting it when you are planning to use Ogma in the long run! You can read more about it here.

Attack Twice with Brave Sword!

If the Gladiator's Blade is not for you, Brave Sword+ allows Ogma to attack twice when initiating combat. This is not a follow-up attack so it is done simultaneously. This means that Ogma can knock-out an enemy even before they can counterattack. However, it inflicts -5 Spd to Ogma.

Heal up with Noontime!

Noontime provides Ogma with very good sustain regardless of what weapon he is using. It heals him for 30% of the damage he deals. Its cooldown is only 2 so the bonus cooldown charge of Gladiator's Blade or the extra attacks from Brave Sword+ make it very easy to maintain high levels of HP through Noontime.

Ogma Weaknesses

Ogma's Res only sits at 13 at Lv.40.This makes it very easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Ogma's positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out.
