If your Sawpit is not making Planks, you can assign an Ox to the Sawpit by going through the building's Advanced tab. Assigning an Ox to your Sawpit ensures that the Timber is transported as needed, at the cost of being locked to that specific building.
During the early game, we recommend assigning an Ox to the Sawpit only if you are in dire need of Planks, since having a second Ox free to work on Construction or Transporting other goods is more valuable.
An alternative to leaving a Family unassigned is to assign a Family to your Hitching Post. This makes that family prioritize transporting goods, allowing your Sawpit to always function as long as you have a supply of Timber.
If you have found other solutions to fix the Sawpit not producing Planks, please let us know in the comments!
The Sawpit will not work unless you make sure to have one family unassigned to transport Timber to it. You can check how many unassigned families there are on the top left corner of your screen.
Another issue that would make the Sawpit not work is when your Ox is being used for another task. This type of livestock is the one responsible for transporting resources.
You can fix this issue by making sure your current ox is free of tasks or by getting another Ox for your settlement.
As of the Early Access of the game, you may notice that a “Generic Storage Full” alert is constantly popping up upon the completion of your Sawpit. This is due to the Sawpit's Timber capacity being only 1, and is where Timber is stored to be processed into Planks.
There is currently no fix to the alert constantly appearing, but this should not be any cause for alarm, since it will not affect your settlement negatively.
