Forester's Hut - How to Build and Use

Manor Lords - How to Use Forester

The Forester's Hut is one of the Gathering buildings available in Manor Lords. Learn what the Forester's Hut does, how to build and upgrade the Forester's Hut, and tips on how to use the Forester's Hut effectively here!

How to Use Forester's Hut

Plant Trees in Open Areas

Manor Lords - Forester Planting Trees.png

When you assign a Family to the Forester's Hut, they will plant Trees in Open Areas within your settlement. This replenishes your Trees, allowing you to gather Lumber and Firewood without having to worry about running out of Trees.

Planted Trees become fully grown after about a year. It takes some time, but it ensures that your settlement remains self sustaining.

Stops Planting During Winter

Like Berries and Fields, Trees also stop growing during winter. During this season, the Family assigned to a Forester's Hut will act as an unassigned Family, guiding Oxes and Praying during their free time.

If you lack manpower in certain buildings, you can reassign the Family during Winter, just remember to reassign them to the Forester's Hut by March of the next year!

Limit Workspace to Only Plant in One Area

Manor Lords - Limit Workspace.png

Once your Forester's Hut is built and has a Family assigned to it, limit the Workspace to make sure they only plant trees in a specific area.

This ensures that they work immediately and not wander around looking for empty areas, as well as making sure that they do not plant trees on areas you want to build on.

How to Limit Work Area

Place Forester's Hut, Woodcutter's Lodge, and Logging Camp Close Together

Manor Lords - Logging Camp Beside Forester.png

Placing your Forester's Hut, Woodcutter's Lodge and Logging Camp in close proximity allows you to limit their workspace in the same area, ensuring that they do not chop down trees in other Areas.

Having all three buildings close together and having the same workspace also ensures that the travel time for the workers are roughly the same, making the delivery of supplies much more efficient.

Planting Trees Does Not Replenish Berries

Another reason why you should limit your Woodcutter and Logger's workspaces is because chopping down trees near Berry Deposits reduces the supply.

Attempting to manually re-plant trees around Berry Sources do not replenish Berry Deposits, essentially reducing one primary food source for your settlement.

How to Fix Forester's Hut Not Planting

Check the Current Season

One possible reason why Foresters are not planting Trees could be because of the Season. Foresters will stop planting Trees during Winter, and will resume planting by the start of Spring.

Change Limited Workspace Area

Another possible reason why Foresters are not planting Trees is because they cannot identify their Workspace. A quick fix for this is to simply set a limited Workspace, and they should immediately start planting Trees.

If they randomly stop working with an assigned Workspace, the area might be populated with Trees already, so consider changing the area, or assign Woodcutters to make room for new Trees.

I think Foresters also need water when planting trees, so you should also build a well next to it.
