How to Romance a Zoi

Choose Romantic Interactions

When attempting to romance another Zoi, simply select Romance interactions, and hope that their bond will build.

Romance Interactions are often highlighted by a heart symbol. They can also be found in the More interactions submenu under the Romance tab when clicking on a Zoi to interact.

If a Romance interaction is successful, the Zois' Love Level will build towards True Love. Different Love Levels will unlock different interaction. Additionally, Romance interactions can trigger Aflutter mood, which has its own interactions.

Romance Interactions Can Go Wrong

Not every attempt at romance will be successful. For a variety of reasons, romance interactions can fail, and when they do, the Zois will take a penalty to their romance relationship.

This is not the end, though! Negative romantic relationships can also decline to a rock-bottom level of Terrible. This status can unlock new interactions and open up storytelling possbilities.

Only Adults Can Romance

Proper courtship requires a mature mind, and in inZOI, only Adult Zois and older may engage in romantic interactions.

Child and Teen Zois cannot romance until they age up into Young Adult or older.

All Love Levels

Each Love Level in inZOI represents a stage of the romantic relationship, with True Love being the maximum positive level and Terrible being the maximum negative.

As with other relationships, once two Zois' romance is ready to upgrade (or downgrade) to the next level, they must do so though a conversation interaction before more progress can be made.

Romance Isn't Exclusive

Romances and other relationship types can be advanced between Zois without any conflict.

For example, by choosing the appropriate interactions, a Zoi may be at True Love with another Zoi, but also advance the Friendship track to BFF and Business Partner track with the same Zoi.

No Romance Between Direct Relations

Parents cannot romance their children and vice versa, nor can siblings romance each other in inZOI.

This rule applies even if the children and siblings are all young adults or older.

Within a household, romances can only happen between Roommates and Spouses.

Family Instead of Romance

Between directly related family members and married Zois, the romance relationship track is replaced by the Family relationship track.

Interactions in this category are based on familial bonding, with relationship levels ranging from Loving to Estranged.

How to Change a Zoi's Romance Setting

Adjust During Zoi Creation

When creating a Zoi, you can choose to set their attitude towards romance, by selecting if they Interested in Romantic Relations and then selecting their preferred genders to romance.

Zois can seek romance from Male, Female, or Nonbinary Zois, or all three. Same-sex Romances are allowed.

Cannot Change Preferences After Creation

Unfortunately, a Zoi's romantic preferences are locked in once character creation is complete, and cannot be changed afterward.

Similarly, the romantic preferences of pre-created Zois, like the families that populate the cities, also cannot be changed.

Cannot Romance Without Preferences

A Zoi's preferred gender to romance is locked at creation, and all romantic interactions outside their preference will fail, and result in a negative.

For example, if a Zoi is set to only seek romance from male Zois, they will reject all advances from female and nonbinary Zois, resulting in negative romance with them.

Even if a player manually controls a Zoi and initiates a romantic interaction, it will fail if the Zois' preferences are not aligned.

How to Learn a Zoi's Romantic Orientation

Ask About Romantic Relationships

In order to find out more about whether a Zoi seeks romance, and who they seek it from, one must first ask.

After meeting a Zoi, some topics like asking about Traits or Preferences will appear with a key symbol. These topics will unlock new profile information about a Zoi.

Ask about their Marital Status and Romantic Relationships. If successful, these interactions should indicate if a Zoi is married, and who they seek romance from on their Zoi Card profile.

Can You Romance Older or Younger Zois?

Any Adult or Older Can Romance

While teen and child Zois cannot use romantic interactions, any two unrelated adult Zoi, including Young Adult, Adult, Middle-Aged, and Senior Zois, can form a romance.

Can You Romance Multiple Zois?

Zois Can Romance Freely

inZOI allows Zois to form romantic relationships with as many other Zois as they can manage. There is no restriction on the number of possible simultaneous courtships.

Single Zois Don't Care About Cheating

Unmarried Zois do not react when a Zoi they are romantically involved with romances another Zoi.

In this way, multiple Zois, even within the same household, can be at True Love level, as long as they are not married.

How to Get Married

Married Zois React to Cheating

Married Zois will react negatively when their partner romances another Zoi.

If a married Zoi sees their partner cheating, they may react with confrontation like slapping. They may enter Annoyed mood as well.

A married couple affected by infidelity will receive penalties to their Affection relationship, and may be more prone to aggressive interactions.

Can You Romance A Zoi That's Not Interested?

Aromantic Zois Reject All Advances

Choosing to make a Zoi that is not interested in romantic relationships will cause that Zoi to reject all romantic from any other Zoi. These include interactions initiated by the Zoi themself.

No Romance Progress Possible with Aromantics

Zois with no interest in romance also cannot make progress in a romantic relationship beyond the first negative level, Ambivalent. The option to downgrade a relationship simply does not appear.
