The developers confirmed from the AMA session in their official Discord that a maximum of 8 Zois will be available per family in a household.
Pregnancy attempts are guaranteed to fail after reaching the threshold. For a new member to be added, one of the existing members would need to pass away to create a slot in the family for them.

The developers have hinted that the maximum family count can be exceeded via mods. Additionally, it is confirmed that they will be adding guides and tools for modding for their players, aiding them for easier implementation.
