The best IVs for Homer are +Spd and -Def. As a fast unit, Homer will need every point of investment in his Spd to compensate for his lack of exclusive skills. Without this, he won't be able to keep up with fast modern metagame units who have exclusive skills that are loaded with multiple effects in today's metagame.

Def is Homer's least important stat and can be safely taken as a bane.

+Spd for a +10 merge

We recommend +Spd when merging Homer up to +10 to maximize his Spd stat and allow him to potentially avoid follow-up attacks from fast metagame foes.

Homer is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Homer Strengths

Blárcrab+ grants a guaranteed follow-up attack and up to +25 bonus true damage

Homer's inheritable Blárcrab+ grants him Atk+6 and a status granting a guaranteed follow-up attack upon initiating combat at the start of each turn.

In combat, Blárcrab+ grants Homer Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 and bonus true damage equal to 5x the number of non-stat【Bonus】 effects active on Homer and his foe, up to +25.

When set up properly, receiving +25 bonus true damage and a guaranteed follow-up attack can be enough to burst down some decently bulky units in the game. Dedicated metagame tanks won't be defeated, but should suffer significant damage.

Homer suffers from not having any unique skills to call his own, making him unable to stand out amongst other units.

Mage Infantry units are quite abundant in the game, and lacking an exclusive weapon makes Homer replaceable by better units.
