When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Def / -Spd

The best IVs for Fallen Dedue are +Def and -Spd. Def is a superboon and boosts Dedue's already high Def from base 49 to base 53, and is ideal as key ranged threats in today's metagame are physical, such as Emblem Lyn and Ninja Lucina.

Def is also the basis for skills that are ideal to equip onto Fallen Dedue, like his base kit's Sturdy Beast and any of the tier 4 Fighter skills like his base kit's Assault Fighter.

+Atk can also be a good boon, as it is the basis for Arcane Crest's bonus true damage and true damage reduction effects.

Dedue's Spd is a clear dump stat and is the best bane to take.

+Def for a +10 merge

We recommend +Def when merging Fallen Dedue up to +10 for similar reasons above.

How to Use, Explanation

Fallen Dedue's base kit is good enough to be used out of the box. Emblem Eirika ring allows Dedue to attack consecutively and burst down his foes, while Hardy Bearing prevents Desperation effects to ensure Dedue can land his brave attack in. On a budget, Dedue's base kit is good enough to be used.

Fallen Dedue is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Arcane Crest Grants Preempt Pulse, True Damage, and True Damage Reduction

Fallen Dedue Attack

Fallen Dedue's inheritable Arcane Crest neutralizes penalties on Dedue, grants him up to Atk/Spd/Def/Res+14 in combat, bonus true damage and true damage reduction equal to 15% of his Atk, and grants him a Preempt Pulse effect.

While Arcane Crest isn't as spectacular as some exclusive weapons, it has everything it needs to be usable in today's metagame. Accelerated trigger, true damage, true damage reduction, and bonus stats are all key effects, and the Preempt Pulse effect is a useful extra bonus to have.

For the True King can Trigger Savior Up To 4 Spaces Away

Fallen Dedue's exclusive C skill For the True King has the bulk of Dedue's strength.

For the True King has built-in Far Save, which protects allies up to 2 spaces away from ranged attacks.

More importantly, For the True King also triggers Savior for a target ally up to 4 spaces away. The target ally is either Dedue's support partner (if present), or the ally with the highest Atk (if no support partner is present).

This effect can be abused by matching the entire team's Atk stats through merges, dragonflowers, and Sacred Seals. If Atk stats are equal, For the True King's 4 space Savior effect will trigger on all of those allies!

It is also worth noting that For the True King's 4 space Savior effect is not restricted to Near or Far Save. Dedue will jump in on any attack, melee or ranged.

For the True King also grants Dedue Atk/Def/Res+5, +7 true damage, 7 true damage reduction on foe's attacks, a Preempt Pulse effect, and a Twin effect, allowing one-time damage reduction effects on Specials to trigger twice.

Weak to Armor Effective Weapons

Fallen Dedue takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Randgríðr, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Weak to Beast Effective Weapons

Fallen Dedue takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance or Picnic Flora's Sæhrímnir, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
