When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Gangrel will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Gangrel are +Spd and -Def. A higher Spd stat allows Gangrel to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes. It also protects him from hostile follow-up attacks. His Def is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Gangrel to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, he can reach 45 Spd which is at a range wherein he can score lots of follow-up attacks even without support from allies.
If you plan to use Ploy skills or skills like Sabotage Atk that require huge amounts of Res to activate, you can take advantage of his Res superboon and get a +Res IV instead. This also increases the damage he deals through Glacies.

Refined Levin Dagger adds adaptive damage, allowing Gangrel to attack his foe's lower defensive stat. It also grants Gangrel 30% damage reduction on his foe's first attack, an additional Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4, and also inflicting penalties onto his foe based on the penalties of both his foe and all nearby foes.
This effect adds a lot to Gangrel's offenses, making him an even better attacker.

Gangrel is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Levin Dagger grants Gangrel +4 to all stats and deals 20% of his Res as damage during combat if a penalty is currently active on the foe. Levin Dagger also inflicts -7 Def/Res to the target and all foes within 2 spaces of the foe. It is easy to utilize the primary effects of Levin Dagger as Gangrel has access to a lot of native debuffs.
Additionally, since it also allows him to deal 20% of his Res, it synergizes well with Glacies, making Res a good stat to try and stack onto Gangrel.
Refined Levin Dagger adds adaptive damage, allowing Gangrel to attack his foe's lower defensive stat. It also grants Gangrel 30% damage reduction on his foe's first attack, an additional Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4, and also inflicting penalties onto his foe based on the penalties of both his foe and all nearby foes.
Chill Atk 3 inflicts -7 Atk on the enemy unit with the highest Atk stat. This is very important as it decreases the damage of one of the most powerful attackers on the opposite team. However, the debuff only lasts until their next action, so if they are granted another action through Galeforce or a refresher-assist skill, the debuff will cease and they can attack without the -7 Atk.
Another quirk of Chill Atk 3 is that it affects the enemy unit regardless of where Gangrel is positoned in relation to enemy units. This is highly synergistic with Levin Dagger as it allows for at least 1 penalty to be active.
Panic Ploy 3 converts units' bonuses in Gangrel's cardinal direction into penalties, meaning all positive stat boosts turn into negative stat reductions. This affects all units in spaces above, below, to the right, or to the left of Gangrel. With his fairly high HP, this is a powerful skill for Gangrel, since it is easy for him to debuff many enemy units with lower HP.
The HP requirement also makes a 5★ Gangrel a good candidate for Summoner Support as he greatly benefits from the +5 HP.
The effects of Levin Dager, while very powerful, relies on penalties to trigger. This makes it hard for Gangrel to deal with heroes such as Idunn and F!Ike, who can turn penalties into buffs.

Gangrel can be used to inherit the rare skill Panic Ploy 3, which he learns at 4 stars. However, keep in mind that Gangrel is only obtainable thorugh GHB, so the number of duplicates you can get is limited. Think carefully before foddering him off.
Gangrel is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
