Saints Row - All Difficulty Settings and Differences

There are multiple difficulty settings which players can change on the fly in the 2022 reboot of Saints Row (Saints Row 5). Read on to learn more about each difficulty setting and their differences, as well as how to change difficulty settings.

Difficulty Settings and Differences

Preset Difficulty Settings

Saints Row has a variety of preset difficulty settings. Depending on the preset chosen, health, notoriety, damage, timers, ammo, tutorials, aim assist, and other factors are scaled upward or downward.

Note that since Notoriety is affected by difficulty scaling, it is possible to receive larger Cash and XP rewards in higher difficulties.

Difficulty Description
Tourist You're not looking for trouble. You're just here to enjoy the scenery and the story.
Hustler You like to take it easy but are not afraid to mix it up. If there's an angle to play, you'll play it.
Entrepeneur (Default) You're self-made, ready to face the world.
Sensei You are on the path to mastery and seek to hone your skills through adversity. What does not kill you makes you stronger.
Boss You're the best of the best. Bragging rights are earned by overcoming the most gruelling challenges Saints Row can throw your way.

Individual Difficulty Settings

Aside from the preset difficulty settings, Saints Row also allows the player to customize individual difficulty settings to fine-tune their own playing experience.

Setting Description
Danger Level Raising this damage setting makes you take more damage from enemies and all other sources.
Enemy Durability The higher this damage setting, the less damage your attacks inflict on all enemies.
Tough Enemy Frequency The higher this challenge setting, the more often you will encounter 'Tough' enemies that are resistant to finishers.
Vehicle Combat Difficulty The higher this challenge setting, the less health your vehicle has compared to enemy vehicles in vehicle-to-vehicle combat.
Notoriety Difficulty Raising this challenge setting makes more enemies arrive during notoriety, and their call-ins are harder to interrupt.
Ammo Scarcity The higher this challenge setting, the less ammo you will receive from ammo pickups.
Timed Objective Difficulty The higher this challenge setting, the less time you will be given to complete timed objectives.
Note: If this setting is changed during a mission, you may have to restart from the previous checkpoint for the setting to take full effect.

Aim Assist Settings

Setting Description
Lock On Type Adjusts the camera behavior when locking on to enemies:
Fine Aim: Lock on always stays on enemy when in fine aim.
Short Lock: Lock on stays on enemy for a short amount of time.
Snap Only: Lock on only stays on enemy for a brief moment.
Off: Lock on is off.
Auto Lock On New Targets Turns on/off automatically locking to new targets without having to exit fine aim.
Lock On Attraction Adjust the degree to which the reticle is attracted to the target given its relative distance:
Narrow: Reticle must be very close to the target to lock on.
Default: Reticle must be somewhat close to the target to lock on.
Wide: Reticle can be far away from the target to lock on.
Extreme: Reticle can lock on to any target even without line-of-sight.
