Vehicle Customization: How to Customize Your Car

Vehicle customization allows players to modify their vehicles however they like in the 2022 reboot of Saints Row (Saints Row 5). Read on to learn how to customize your car and the different customizations you can have!

How to Customize Your Ride

Go to Jim Rob's

Once you've finished the A Piece of the Action mission, drive your vehicle to Jim Rob's garage where you can bring up the customization screen. From there, you can select and purchase which upgrades you wish to get for your vehicle.

Vehicle Garage in HQ

Alternatively, players can customize their vehicles right in their HQ. This can be done by going to the Vehicle Garage and anything you purchase from Jim Rob's is available here.

Helipad in HQ

Aircraft and helicopters can also be customized from the helipad down by HQ. Like with cars and trucks, you can customize paint jobs and body mod for the right price. As of the moment, the helipad is the only place to customize aircraft vehicles.

Boat Dock in HQ

Boats and jet-skis will also be customizable in the boat dock next to HQ. As with all vehicles, here you can customize paint jobs and body mods to fit your style as you cruise through the waters of Santo Ileso.

Customizable Parts

Presets

Presets are completed combinations of vehicles that players can find. These presets can be purchased and will have different customizations for each of them.

Paint Styles

Standard

There are 6 Standard paint types available: Gloss, Matte, Metallic, Candy, Iridescent, Pearlescent. Players can select from these paint types and select a color to finish their vehicles with.

Cutting Edge

Cutting Edge paint styles that have more unique appearances compared to the Standard paint styles. The colors for this paint style cannot be modified.

These styles can be unlocked by establishing the Cutting Edge Venture and completing its mission. Each mission unlocks one style.

Body Mods

Body Mods available for customizing are the Hood, Spoiler, Bumpers, Roof, and Sideskirts. These mods can be purchased separately and can be used in unique combinations.

Tires

Tire mods include their profiles which can be changed from Extra Low, Low, Normal, High, and Extra High. Other specs like the axle height and the rims you use can be customized as well. Players can choose to customize either the axles individually (front tires or back tires) or all of them.

Audio

Audio mods include the Engine, Horn, and Transmission sounds. Options for this mod range from a Muscle car to a Circus clown, among others.

Equipment

The Towing Cable attached to a vehicle getting ready for transport.

These specialized Equipment can augment your driving depending upon which items you choose to purchase.

Upgrade Kit

Upgrade Kits unlock a special ability that upgrade a vehicle's speed, performance, durability and handling. Each vehicle has a unique upgrade tier.

Signature Ability

Signature Abilities are abilities you can equip to your vehicle to give you an edge against anyone chasing you. These unlock as you progress through the story.
