Atticus Marshall is the CEO of Marshall Defense Industries. Although he presents himself as a kind, respectable gentleman in their advertisements, he's the complete opposite. Atticus only cares about the success and reputation of his company and is willing to ruthlessly expend people's lives and livelihood for his own goals.

As head of the massively successful Marshall Defense Industries, Atticus sells advanced weaponry, high tech military hardware, and full blown private armies to individuals and governments around the world. Which means he’s got both the money and the power to bring down anyone who gets in his way…

Boss' Employer

During the first few missions of the game, Atticus serves as Boss' employer after Boss signs on to become a serviceman in the Marshall Defense Industries. The two directly meet, in fact, after Boss partakes in a raid against a Los Panteros convoy and retrieving a priceless artifact that Atticus is interested in.

Eventual Enemies

Although the two would have an initially good relationship, things between them sour after Atticus fires Boss after he fails in preventing the Idols from getting away with the artifact – called the Codex – during a three-way pitched battle at the museum that the artifact was being featured in.

Boss would use this perceived &uot;failure" to gain inspiration to establish the Saints, pitting him directly against Atticus' Marshalls in several battles as the Saints continue their rise to power.

Owning the Saints

As Boss' Saints continue their rise to power, Atticus makes a power move to completely own the criminal organization due to a "Non-Compete Clause" in Boss' contract during his tenure with the Marshalls. This gives Atticus complete ownership of the Saints, which forces Boss, his friends, and other Saints to lay siege to the Marshall HQ in Santo Ileso's main city.

Due to the surge of Saints, the Marshalls are unable to stop Boss or his friends from making their way up the tower, forcing Atticus to flee to safety.

Non-Compete Clause Walkthrough and Rewards

Death or Exile

After failing to get to Atticus, Boss meets with a disgruntled employee of Atticus' – Myra Starr – who offers to conduct a coup d'etat against Atticus in exchange for her becoming the head of Marshall Defense Industries.

Boss agrees to the plan, severely crashing the Marshall stock that gives the Marshall's board of directors to voting out Atticus, with the deciding vote being given to Boss himself. As Boss, the player is then given the choice between firing or shooting Atticus.
