This is a guide to Affinity, a damage modifying stat in Monster Hunter World (MHW) Iceborne. Read on to learn about Affinity, how much damage increase does affinity do, how to raise affinity, and other affinity related skills.
List of Contents
Affinity is the game's version of critical chance. Each strike will have a chance to do bonus damage depending on your affinity with 100% being the soft cap (it can go further but doing so gives it less value). Critical strikes makes you deal 25% more damage and a negative critical strike makes you lose 25% damage.
The damage boost does not include the bonus damage you get from elemental strikes. A different skill called Critical Element and True Critical Element is required to make elemental attacks critically strike too.
There are various skills that raise affinity in the game. Getting a 100% affinity is a surefire way to increase your character's DPS so let's make sure to always aim for it!
Critical Eye | Increases Affinity |
---|---|
Weakness Exploit | Increased Affinity when striking monster's weakspots (increased further if the part is wounded) |
Maximum Might | Increases affinity if stamina is kept full |
Attack Boost | Increases Affinity (needs to be at least level 4) |
Latent Power | Increases Affinity and Decreases affinity after a period of time has passed or after taking enough damage from a monster. |
Critical Draw | Increased Affinity for your first draw attack |
Agitator | Increased attack and affinity when a monster is enraged |
Your affinity's base damage is at 125%, every point of Critical Boost will increase your Critical damage and it'll give a flat 40% bonus damage to all attacks if you get a 100% affinity rate.
