I know how to beat his ass without getting much damage against it. you need to position yourself right here in the picture (stolen from this page) and just spam arrows. the attacks of the slimes will not hit you I swear.

I used the Totem of Shielding when I got close. It protected me from the slime and I used my daggers to kill it.

I JUST SHOT IT WITH FIREWORK ROCKETS AND THE PURPLE SLIMES COUDNT GET ME BUT THE ROCKETS BLEW IT UP

Personally, this is one of the hard bosses in the game. Believe it or not, it almost killed me. It's better to get a friend to help you against him.
