How to Find and Unlock the Church | How to Lower the Drawbridge

Heard about unlocking Runes in the cathedral, but don't know how to lower the drawbridge in Minecraft Dungeons? Then read on for our guide on how to get to the Church and where to find it!

How to Unlock the Church

Beat the Game

Default Game Cleared

To unlock the path that goes to the Church, you first need to beat the Obsidian Pinnacle Mission on Default.

How to Get to the Church

Use the Jump Pads

After beating Archie and the true final boss, the Heart of Ender, jump pads will appear to the right of the cottage in Camp.

Jump twice and you'll be on the other side of the canyon, heading in the right direction.

Turn Left before the Nether Portal

While the Nether Portal is indeed shiny and intriguing, you'll need to take a turn in between the trees before you reach it to get to the Church.

Lower the Drawbridge

While it isn't needed to enter the Church, it makes for easier access in the future, so press the lever outside to lower the nearby drawbridge.

You wanted to do that in the beginning anyway, we're sure!

What Can You do at the Church

Unlock Runes

Just like the Church unlock requirements, you can only start collecting Runes after you've beaten the game once.

Once you're all set, you can start looking for the secret locations in all the Story Missions.

Consult the Dog Painting

Dog Painting at the Church
If you want hints but don't want to use our handy Rune guide, you can check the Dog Painting within the Church for tips on Rune locations.

They're not super helpful though, so we recommend you use our guide instead.

Unlock the Secret Cow Level

Once you've collected all the Runes, come back to the Church and activate the panel in the far back.

This will lead you to a room with two Chests and a map that unlocks the secret Cow level.

Click on the dog painting and it will give you a hint I got a guardian bow and a winter’s touch.
