Minecraft Dungeons

List of Characters

Multiplayer.jpg

Although the protagonists in the game are fully customizable, many friendly faces and antagonists will appear to help or hinder you on your journey. Take a look at what characters appear in the game and what role they play in the story!

Friendly Characters

Villagers

Villagers.png

During the events of the game, the peaceful Villagers are in a state of enslavement by the Arch-Illager and his Illager minions. You'll save them in various ways throughout the game, rescuing them from cages in the Creeper Woods level, from mind control in the Redstone Mines level, and in the Pumpkin Pastures level, you'll need to protect their last remaining village from the Illagers.

Blacksmith

Blacksmith.png

The Blacksmith is unlocked early in your adventure in the Camp area. Although he never has a line of dialogue, he's there supporting you in his own way by allowing you to trade a set amount of Emeralds for a Weapon or Armor near your character's level. The price of his services rises slowly but gradually throughout the game.

Wandering Trader

WanderingTrader.png

The Wandering Trader is unlocked after completing one more Mission after unlocking the Blacksmith. Like the Blacksmith, he's the strong and silent type (emphasis on silent), trading the player Emeralds in exchange for an Artifact near your character's level. The price for his services will always be double that of the Blacksmith.

Key Golem

KeyGolem.jpeg

The Key Golem seems to be so beloved by the development team that they jokingly (?) refer to producing a “six hour coming-of-age movie” focused on the character.

One of the key members of the adventure is the Key Golem shown above, who is used to open doors and tries to escape from the party every time he is captured. If the holder of the Key Golem is attacked, he'll come loose and run back to his starting position.

Piggy Bank

A pig with a chest on its back, the Piggy Bank seems a bit unwilling to provide its services, running away from the party when it sees them. It's quite easy to catch though, and after a few swipes it will reward you with several Emeralds and often a Weapon or Armor as well.

Antagonists

The Arch-Illager

ArchIllager.jpg

The main villain of the game, the Arch-Illager started out as a humble Illager, cast out by the world, until he came across the Orb of Dominance, a powerful relic that turned him to evil. Watch the full story in the Opening Cinematic for the game!

“When a lonely, outcast Illager stumbles upon a mysterious object with terrifying powers, his entire existence is turned upside down. Before long, he finds himself on a path of evil, causing mayhem across the Overworld. Who can stop him?”

The Orb of Dominance

OrbofDominance.png

In true Minecraft fashion, the Triforce-esque power item known as the “Orb of Dominance”, despite being called an Orb, is somehow still a bit... pointy.

The Illagers

Illagers.png

The Illagers are the minions of the Arch-Illager, and they're generally found exerting their ill-gotten authority on the Villagers and furthering the Arch-Illagers' plots. You'll be catching them in the middle of a dastardly scheme each time they appear, from harnessing the power of Redstone to forge weapons in Redstone Mine to attempting to master necromancy in the Desert Temple.

The Witches

In the Soggy Swamp level, the Witches are brewing potions for the Arch-Illager to use as weapons. You'll need to destroy the cauldrons, defeat the Witches, and finally topple the Corrupted Cauldron to finish them off.
