While Mojang has promised to make cross-platform play available in a later update, it will not be available at game launch and no date has been set for when it will be released.
Even when Crossplay becomes available, you won't be able to move your save data from one platform to another.
On the bright side, the update will be free for all and not require any additional purchases on your behalf!
However, if you're playing on a console and not a PC, you will need the Online subscription for that platform.
