How to Use Sheep Farm

Assign Families to Pastures

Similar to how Fields require a Farmhouse to assign families, Sheep Farms are used to assign a family to a Pasture and oversee Wool production.

A family assigned to a Sheep Farm will continue working even if the Pasture is located away from the Farm, but we recommend keeping these buildings together to make transporting goods faster.

Has 5 Pasture Space by Default

Unlike Pastures where the Pasture Space is determined by the size of the plot you set, Sheep Farms have 5 Pasture Space by Default, which is enough to accommodate one Sheep.

Produce Wool for Cloaks

Wool produced by Sheep are used to create Yarn, which in turn is needed to craft Cloaks in a Tailor's Workshop.

Cloaks can provide your settlement with Clothing Variety, fulfilling an Amenity Requirement for upgrading Burgage Plots.

Shearing Unavailable During Winter

Shearing Sheep becomes unavailable during Winter, since Sheep need their wool to survive the cold weather.

If you are exporting Wool or Yarn for Regional Wealth, consider exporting Lambs instead during this season to make up for profit loss.

How to Get Lambs

Breed Sheep Through Sheepbreeding Development

Once you have several Sheep grazing your Pastures, you can breed them for Lambs by unlocking the Sheepbreeding Development node.

Lambs will mature into Sheep after around 1 Year, which you can either keep to increase Wool production, or export for Regional Wealth.

How to Fix Sheep Farm Not Working

Make Sure To Have Enough Pasture Space For Your Sheep

Building a Pasture with less pasture space than the number of sheep you have may result to your sheep running away from your settlement, so make sure have enough space for your livestock.

Build Sheep Farm and Pasture Near Each Other

It is recommended that you build the Sheep Farm and Pasture near each other in your settlement to streamline the process of sheep shearing and transporting of goods.

Make Sure You Have Sheep, Lambs Will Not Produce Wool

Your Sheep Farm not working can be attributed to the fact that lambs only reside in your pasture. Sheep are the only livestock that can generate Wool, as lambs cannot yet produce this resource until they've grown into Sheep.

Be sure to import Sheep from the Livestock Trading Post to ensure that you can collect Wool through your Sheep Farms.
