The best IVs for Summer Balthus are +Atk and -Res. Due to his lack of exclusive skills, Balthus needs every point of Atk he can muster to be able to deal damage against sturdier units in the metagame.

Balthus's Res is his least important stat and can be safely taken as a bane.

Summer Balthus Strengths

Good bulk for a demote unit

Summer Balthus has base 47 HP and base 45 Def, allowing him to function as a physical tank unit. Osseous Trident+ having a true damage reduction effect improves Balthus's ability to soak physical damage for his team, and this is his best role.

Due to his lack of exclusive skills, we recommend building Summer Balthus as a frontline unit, as he lacks the flexibility to function in other roles.

Summer Balthus comes with Osseous Trident+ as an inheritable Lance. This weapon grants him Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5, bonus true damage equal to highest total bonuses among Balthus and nearby allies, and true damage reduction equal to half that amount.

While clearly not on par with modern exclusive weapons, it still has true damage and true damage reduction effects, allowing Summer Balthus to hold his own in combat.
