Recommended IVs

Stat Superboon/Superbane IV Recommendation

Atk (23) No Attack IV ★★★★☆
Spd (5) Spd Boon ★★☆☆☆
Def (10) No Def IV ★★★★★
Res (4) No Res IV ★★★☆☆

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws

See the IV Checker for All Units Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Def/-Spd

The best IVs for Brave Silas are +Def and -Spd. A +Def IV allows him to specialize in tanking physical attacks. With it, he can even survive blows from some green units. His Spd is pretty low and very unreliable so its fine to take a -Spd IV. For him to score follow-up attacks, you can just inherit a skill like Quick Riposte 3 onto him. Check out the builds section to know more!

+Def for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Def IV when merging Silas to 10. At +10 Merges, Silas's Def will reach 43. This makes him very tanky against all physical units. If you prefer a more offensive Silas, then you can rock a +Atk IV instead.

How to Use, Explanation

This build takes advantage of the natural tankiness of the unit in tandem with Quick Riposte 3 to enable them to deal tons of damage in the enemy phase. If you cannot afford Atk/Def Menace, you can take Threat. Atk/Def 3 or anything that is similar in function. Bonfire will leverage the high amount of Def he will be able to stack.

Silas Best Weapon Refine

Effect of Silas's Refined Weapon

Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type)
SP: 400
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3
Effective against armored foes. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Def+5 during combat.
If unit is within 3 spaces of support partner, or support partner's HP ≤ 80%, grants Atk/Def+7 to unit during combat and foe cannot make a follow-up attack.
Arena Medal:500 Divine Dew:200

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Sworn lance

Upgrading Sworn Lance for Silas is a no-brainer! First off, it keeps the armor effectiveness from its prerequisite Slaying Spear+, but it adds very accessible Atk/Def buffs! In addition, it also blocks enemy follow-up attacks. This makes him even bulkier by somehow patching his low Spd!

Silas is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Silas Strengths

His weapons are strong against armored units

Silas' most powerful weapon, the Slaying Spear+ is effective against armored units. This weapon combined with his decent Atk stat and some invesment can make it easy for him to take out powerful red armored units like Winter Tharja and Zelgius.

Additional defensive ability with Steady Stance

His A slot skill Steady Stance 3 will give him Def +6 when the foe initiates combat. Unlike the related skills Close Def 3 and Distant Def 3, his Res stat will not increase, but having a guaranteed Def buff regardless of the weapon used is a huge plus. Silas already has an incredible Def stat, so Steady Stance helps to solidify him as a physical wall.

Can buff himself and nearby allies' Def

His default C skill Even Def Wave 3 grants Def +6 to unit and adjacent allies at the start of even-numbered turns. Wave skills provide buffs even to the user, despite being C-slot skills, which is a huge advantage to using them. Use the even-numbered turns buff to your advantage, and strike when the time is right!

A refined Sworn Lance gives tons of Atk/Def and blocks enemy follow-up attacks!

Sworn Lance's trigger conditions are very easy to meet, but their effects give tons of value to Silas:

  • Silas can gain an upwards of +12 Atk/Def from Sworn Lance. This improves his combat ability especially against physical foes.
  • Sworn Lance can also block follow-up attacks. The trigger condition for this effect is also very accessible!

Other benefits fo these effects include improving the damage from skills like Bonfire or Ignis, and improving his matchups against fast magic foes by being able to block follow-up attacks.

Silas Weaknesses

Low Res

Silas' Res only sits at 21 at Lv.40. This makes it easy for magic users to take him out. Be mindful of Silas' positioning in relation to magical units that can easily take him out. Use his high mobility to position him properly!

Weak to Cavalry Effective Weapons

Silas takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Ridersbane, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

I’ll make this quick.
I WILL protect my friends!
On my honor as a knight.
You’re not getting past me!

Lv 40 5★ Dialogue

Lv 40 5★ Dialogue become available when a hero attains Lv. 40 at 5★ rarity.

Thanks for coming to chat with me. It’s a good distraction. I’ve grown used to this world by now, but…
There are still a lot of Heroes around here I don’t know. I didn’t realize how tense that made me.
And you wouldn’t believe how stiff that’s made my shoulders!
Huh? You want to give me a shoulder rub? Heh, I must be a pretty big deal to garner such attention from you!
I’m kidding of course... But that does feel better already. Speaking with you is just as soothing, I might say.
You’ll have to let me return the favor. Do you have any problems you’d like me to help you resolve?
No need to hold back. Ask me anything. After all, our friendship spans both space and time, right?
