Clive officially joins your army during the quest Call to Action as a member of Alain's army. He is a Knight at the time of recruitment so he is a unit that can zoom around the map with his trusty steed and take on objectives in the outskirts.

3	Cavalier Call	Cavalier Call does not need conditions to work effectively. You can leave it blank, and Clive will stack its effects as long as he has PP.
4	Quick Guard ┗ Attacked by Flying	Set Quick Guard to Attacked by Flying so Clive can reduce the damage he takes from his class' weakness.
5	Quick Guard	Keep this blank so Clive can use Quick Guard to defend himself, if there are no Flying enemies in the enemy unit.

Clive, Chloe, and Alain make a powerful and balanced unit that you can build. The holy trinity of DPS, Tank, and Healer is present, but all of them contribute to the unit's damage as well.

Alain will tank melee attacks for both Clive and Chloe with Noble Guard and Lean Edge, while Clive aims to eliminate enemies one by one with Assaulting Lance. Chloe will supplement Clive's damage with Long Thrust, and keep the unit's HP topped off with First Aid.
