Spare or Execute Mordon? Location: The Battle for Barbatimo Region: Cornia	★ Spare him: ・Mordon is recruited	Execute him: ・Receive 30 Honors

These are the choices that are essential to recruiting each character. It is recommended to recruit all the characters as this affects the story, and the rewards for not doing so are farmable resources or equipment.

All Story Choices

Announce Yourself or Ignor Melisandre? Location: The Blade of House Meillet Region: Cornia	★ Announce yourself: ・Melisandre's personality is revealed a bit more in a cutscene with her and Alain	Ignore her: ・Melisandre warns the Liberation of their approaching battle

These choices affect some cutscenes or how some stages will play out, but will not affect the general narrative of the game. There are still recommended options as they show cutscenes that look deeper into the characters or make some battle stages easier.

Do Choices Matter?

Choices Are Permanent and Affect Some Story Elements

Meaningful choices are encountered in the different Main Quests or even Side Quests that permanently affect your playthrough with access to quests, characters, items, or equipment.

Set A Character Free or Accept Their Offer to Recruit Them

Setting an enemy free or accepting someone to the Liberation's ranks will usually lead to them being a playable character, but also access to other quests such as Sharon's The Cemeteries of Cornia Quest.

Not Recruiting a Character Gives Item or Equipment Rewards

Executing an enemy commander or refusing other characters' help will reward you with Items or Equipment. These items or equipment are usually obtained later in the game.

However, this is not recommended as most of these rewards are still purchasable from vendors or other means. This is why it is recommended always to choose the option that will lead to recruiting a character unless getting late-game items early is your priority.

Marriage Choice and the Rite of Covenant

One-Time Choice for Your Partner

The Rite of Covenant is the marriage system in Unicorn Overlord, which involves offering the Ring of Maiden to your most trusted comrade-in-arms.

This is a one-time choice per playthrough and can only be done for characters you've maximized rapport with.
