Use Josef Extensively

Josef is one of the most powerful units you can get in the early game so use him in all the battles you will fight. He is the only unit at Level 20 and can decimate all enemies in his path early on!

Take Note of the Enemy Levels For Quests

Most battle quests in Unicorn Overlord have an enemy-level indicator to check if your characters' levels are enough. Make sure to check your army if they are capable of taking them on or if they need to level up.

Enemy Levels for quests are found in the upper left section of your screen when you hover over the quest on the map or approach the quest area in the overworld.

Get The Golden Egg As Soon As Possible

An extremely valuable item you can get very early in the game is the Golden Egg. This accessory essentially doubles the Gold obtained during battles! It is also very easy to get so prioritize this in the early game!

Save Money for the Black Market Dealer

The Black Market is a shop on the map that sells valuable items and powerful gear for your journey. Make sure to save money and spend it in the Dealer once you unlock it!

Understand How Stamina Works

Stamina is the lifeblood of combat in Unicorn Overlord. It is the currency units used to battle enemy units. We've broken down how stamina works and help players manage their stamina effectively during battles below.

• A unit's collective stamina is always based on the assigned Leader.
• Battling with an enemy unit consumes 1 stamina point.
• Combat assists consume 1 stamina point per assistance.
• You can stack multiple assists to a fight, in which each assisting unit will consume 1 stamina point.
• Fighting in a garrisoned position, occupied fort, or any other owned location will not consume stamina. This also applies to assists as well as long as the units are garrisoned in those locations.
• Friendly locations such as owned forts and the command post lets stationed units restore stamina over time.
• Units can restore stamina by resting.
• Restoring stamina by resting or being stationed at a friendly position will burn your time limit.
• Units that drop to 0 stamina will be immobilized until they've regained at least 1 stamina point. Note that they can still engage in combat, but they will essentially be sitting ducks while their stamina is empty.
• Moving itself does not consume a stamina point.

Observe Proper Rest Usage

Rest is the primary way of restoring Stamina during battles. It's important to time your unit's resting period though!

When a resting unit is attacked, it will never have a first-strike advantage and lose its ability to counterattack.

Make sure your resting units are away from enemy units if you plan to rest them. Alternatively, having other friendly units nearby to defend your resting units.

Explore and Unlock As Many Characters As You Can

You must start by unlocking as many characters as you can, whenever you can. Not only does this help you diversify your unit composition, but some characters may even trivialize certain battles that otherwise would've missed if you skipped getting them!

Explore the world and run quests at the early stages of the game. See what a characters available classes are for each of them to fine-tune your unit's needs. Gryphon Knights and Clerics are great pickups early on as they can be extremely useful for most battles in the early game.

Take Your Time By Using Pause

The game is all about maximizing your moves during the battle's time limit. Take advantage of the Pause feature to strategically plan your moves ahead of time!

Pausing also allows you to reconsider moves and adjust to what your enemies are doing.

Plan Your Deployments

A good chunk of combat in Unicorn Overlord revolves around proper unit composition. Classes have specific strengths and weaknesses against each other.

For example, Cavalry units are extremely weak to Gryphon Knights. Consider running a Gryphon Knight unit alongside Josef and Auch to make quick work of them.

Develop the habit of checking each enemy unit and identify your units that are best suited to fight. This rock-paper-scissors dynamic is vital to winning engagements as cleanly and quickly as possible.

Best Unit Formation and Party Composition

Optimize Your Unit's Grid Placements

On top of choosing the best units for the job, try to optimize the individual characters' grid placement within their units as well!

We recommend having evasive and defensive units such as Thieves and Knights at the front. Damage dealers, mages, and support classes can remain at the back.

Also, check which character offers the best Leader Effect for the unit. This will help you solidify a unit's purpose and specialization in combat.

Defeat The Units with Sword Icons Outside Forts

In almost all Forts, there are units with a sword icon on top of their heads. Always fight these units as they not only enable you to hire them for your army but also give 2000 Gold in reward for defeating them the first time. Sweet!

Money Farming Guide

Start Saving Honor Points at Renown C

Players will be able to promote their characters when they have reached Renown B. Promoting characters requires Honor so we suggest saving up points as soon as you reach Renown C!

How to Promote to Advanced Classes

Aim for Equipment with +AP or +PP

Your character's equipment is a great source of Passive Skills, on top of stats. Take the time to optimize your gear to bolster your unit's overall power level.

We suggest using equipment that increases your overall Active Points (AP) and Passive Points (PP). They ensure your characters take extra turns in battles as well as proc passive skills more. This can increase your chances of finishing a battle in one fell swoop!

Use Equipment with Follow-Up Attacks and Counters

Considering players are limited by the amount of AP and PP a unit has, equipment that provides follow up and counter attacks is very valuable in sneaking in extra damage. Maximize this to deal tons of damage!

Use Your Valor Skills All The Time

Do not skimp on spending Valor points during battles. The last thing you want is to have a a lot of spare Valor points at the end of the battle when you could have used them to get extra gold via Travis's Plunder, increase EXP gained via Alain's Royal Order, or damage enemy units with Clive's Wild Rush.
