The choice between going to Aesfrost or Hyzante ultimately boils down to the character you are going to recruit.
We recommend going to Aesfrost to get Rudolph since his abilities are very useful in the battlefield. His expertise with the bow allows him to snipe enemies from afar. His superb damage is indispensable and he can even lay down traps that can chip away the enemy's health.

Unfortunately, you cannot get both characters in the game in your first playthrough. They are exclusive to a chapter and choosing one means you're going to lose the other.
The only way to get both characters is by finishing the game first and unlocking New Game Plus.
Units that you have recruited in your first playthrough carry over to New Game Plus where you can explore other routes and unlock more characters.
