What Are Weaknesses and Resistances?

Unit Properties That Affect Damage Calculation

Weaknesses and Resistances are innate unit qualities that affect the damage units take from specific attacks. Upon selection of an attack, Weak! or Resistant alert text will hover over foes that possess Weakness or Resistance to said attacks.

Damage Calculation

Enemy Information Interface

By hovering over a foe in the map and pressing the Y button, the Enemy Information Interface can be accessed. At the middle bottom portion of said interace, you can see what attacks a unit is weak or resistant to. It also indicates the percentage of the damage bonus or penalty that will occur.

This Hyzantian Pikeman possesses no weaknesses or resistances to Fire or Ice attacks. This means the damage dealt to him by Frederica's Scorch or Corentin's Icy Breath will be based solely on other variables such as the caster's Magic Attack and the Pikeman's Magic Defense.

This Glenbrook Bowman possesses a 30% resistance against Fire attacks, and a -30% weakness against Ice attacks. This means an Ice attack will hit harder than a Fire attack of identical power.

Inversely, this Aesfrosti Battlemage has a -30% weakness against Fire attacks, and a 30% resistance against Ice attacks. Fire attacks will hit this mage harder than Ice attacks would.

Sample Scenario - Frederica's Scorch

From top left to right the units are: Glenbrook Bowman, Aesfrosti Battlemage, and Hyzantian Pikeman

Scorch Deal fire-type magic damage to all enemies within range and set the ground ablaze.
Power: 26
Range: 0-4 (Height -10 - +10)

Despite a difference in Magic Defense where the mage has 13, bowman with 9, and pikeman with 8, Weaknesses and Resistances became the more dominant variable and decided which unit takes the most damage.

In this case, Frederica's Fire-type Scorch dealt:

  1. 157 damage to the resistant Glenbrook Bowman
  2. 270 damage to the weak Aesfrosti Battlemage
  3. 228 damage to the neutral Hyzantian Pikeman

This makes it a very dominant variable in calculating damage so make sure to play around Weaknesses and Resistances to improve the results of your battles!

Resistance Amulets

Equippable Items That Grant Resistance

Fire Amulet Triangle Strategy TS

For 2000 Coin each, you can buy Amulets that increases a unit's resistance to an element by 30% when worn. These are available from the Provisioner!

Up to 2 Amulets Can Be Worn

Serenoa Resistance Rings

Each unit has 2 jewelry slots and this means they can wear up to 2 Amulets at the same time. Depending on what your next foes are, mix and match both offensive and defensive jewelry with your units to make battles a breeze.

Weaknesses and Kudos

Stacking Kudos

When you attack foes with a weakness to your attacks, you gain Kudos! This stacks with other Kudos-generating mechanics such as striking from a high ground and hitting multiple enemies at once. This is another reason to exploit weaknesses whenever they come up.
