This is a guide on persuasion mechanics and how to influence choices on the Scales of Conviction. Read on to learn how the scales dictate the story and how to persuade allies into making choices.
List of Contents
The Scales of Conviction are used in specific points of the game where players have to convince their party members to vote on a choice.
These choices come at a branching point in the story where depending on the vote, players will have access to completely different plots, battles, dialogue options, and more.
How to Increase Conviction
Conviction Mechanics Explained
Sections of the game where the Scales of Conviction are used takes players to a small area where Serenoa is able to convince his party members to make a choice before the actual voting.
(1) Decided Party Members | These members already have a certain choice. It is up to the player to persuade them otherwise. |
---|---|
(2) Undecided Party Members | Undecided members can still lean towards a choice. Players can check this out by how difficult it is to persuade to make certain decisions. |
After voting and making a choice, the story moves forward.
The path of story is directly influenced by choice the party makes. This can take players through different places, fight different enemies, and even influence its ending.
Chapter # | Chapter Name | Major Choice |
---|---|---|
Chapter 3 | Whither the River Flows | Players have to decide whether to go to Hyzante or Aesfrost. |
Chapter 7 | A Soul Upon the Scales | Players have to decide whether to go to Protect Roland or Surrender Roland. |
Chapter 8a | The Weather Vane | Players have to decide whether to go to Accept Telliore's Proposal or Reject Telliore's Proposal. |
Chapter 8b | Weather the Storm | Players have to decide whether to Fight Sorsley or Attack Aesfrost. |
Chapter 9 | Dwindling Light | Players have to decide whether to Transport the Illegal Salt or to Report the Illegal Salt. |
Chapter 10a | Beneath a Frigid Sky | Players have to decide whether to Reveal Roland's Identity or to Keep Roland's Secret. |
Chapter 11 | Oppressions Under the Sun | Players have to decide whether to Deliver the Roselle or Defend the Roselle. |
Chapter 13 | Our Time Has Come | Players have to decide whether to Destroy the Dam, Infiltrate the Castle, or Destroy the Bridge. |
Chapter 15 | A Banner's Worth | Players have to decide whether to Return to Wolffort, Remain in the Crown City, or Travel to the Rosellan Village Note: The Decision in Chapter 11 also affects the outcome of Travelling to the Rosellan Village. |
Chapter 17 | If Griefs Could Passions Move | Players have to decide whether to align with Benedict, Roland, or Frederica. Note: If certain conditions are met, you may go for the Golden Route and follow Serenoa's Convictions. |
When deciding where the story progresses, players are able to recruit characters unique to the branching storyline.
Examples of this are recruiting Rudolph as a party member when on the Aesfrost route as opposed to recruiting Corentin in the Hyzante route.
List of Characters and How to Recruit
Since the Scales of Conviction rely on Serenoa's dialogue choices it's very important to talk to all party members whenever players can.
Party members who start out undecided will have two persuasion options. Underneath the options, players will be able to see if they have a chance at influencing their choice.
Open-Mindedness | Likeliness to be Persuasded |
---|---|
This one should listen to reason. | Most Likely |
It may take effort, but they can be swayed. | Slightly Likely |
Negotiating may yet prove fruitful. | Neutral |
They will listen at the very least. | Slightly Unlikely |
This one will not be easily swayed. | Least Likely |
I'd have better luck talking to a stone wall. | Pretty Much Never |
Once attempting to convince them, players may be able to choose between three dialogue options that may influence them.
Some dialogue options may be locked and can only be unlocked through obtaining specific pieces of Information before the Scales of Conviction phase.
In the area before voting, talk to party members who are against your choice. This will prompt a persuasion dialogue.
The party member will make their case, and players will be able convince them through picking one of three dialogue options.
Party members with a choice will become undecided after players attempt to persuade them. This does not mean that they are already persuaded. You will have to wait until Voting commences before you can see if their opinion has changed.
