Archibald joins through Character Stories. Characters who will join your party from Character Stories are affected by Serenoa's Conviction. You need to reach a certain number of points for Morality, Utility, and Liberty to get them. However, these values are hidden on your first playthrough. The only way for you to check how many points you have gathered for each is to finish your first playthrough and unlock New Game Plus.

You'll know a character story is available by checking its icon on the lower right section of the map. Press the + button to watch the character story and possibly recruit a new member of your team!

With Archibald's aptitude, you can snipe enemies from a greater distance. He can even deal plenty of damage to an enemy by ignoring their defense. He's great to have in battles where there is a lot of higher ground. Place him on a tile with a good vantage point and snipe enemies to their deaths.

Since Archibald is slow, we recommend equipping him with items that can remedy his speed like the Speed Amulet.

Bow of Serenity I

Archibald's first weapon has the upgrade Raging Winds, Physical Damage Up which boosts his damage when battling when a temptest is active in battle.

Although there are only a few battles with tempest winds, you can include Ezana with Archibald and use her Rite of Tempests ability to whip up the required wind condition.

Bow of Serenity II

You can improve Archibald's attack range and damage units from a safer distance once you obtain his third weapon rank and purchase the Normal Attack Range +1 upgrade.
