By this point, you would have had a Logging Camp to provide Timber to your colony. Build a Sawpit to convert some of these Timber into Planks.
When you've amassed enough Iron Slabs and Planks, either build a level 2 burgage plot relatively nearby your Bloomery or Sawpit, upgrade a nearby Level 1 burgage plot with an extension.
How to Upgrade Your Burgage Plots
| Material(s) | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Planks | x5 |
| Regional Wealth | x5 |
Once your burgage plot is the necessary level, upgrade it with a Blacksmith's Workshop extension to convert the Iron Slabs and Planks into Polearms.

Polearms are required weapons for your Polearm Militia. It takes a Blacksmith's Workshop with some Iron Slabs and Planks to produce Polearms.
Each militia unit will require a weapon that is specific to their designated unit. Each member of your unit will try to equip a weapon that is assigned to them as long as you have 1 available.
