How to Acquire | Purchase your first Tripcaster from Karst near Mother's Cradle. |
---|---|
Objectives | Trip 3 machines with Shock Wires. |
Recommended Level | 8 |
Rewards | 1330 XP |
Description | You have acquired a powerful new weapon, the Tripcaster, capable of firing new ammunition types. This combat challenge will help you learn its utility and hone your skills. |
1 | Locate a Strider Site on the map and head towards it. |
---|---|
2 | Equip your Tripcaster (can be any rarity) and select the Shock Wire ammo type. |
3 | Startle the Striders and engage them in combat. When the Exclamation Pop-Up starts flashing, prep your wire. |
4 | As they are charging, set-up the Shock Wire to cover a lengthy space. This ensures the wire is not easily sidestepped. |
5 | Repeat and provoke the Striders into charging until 3 have been stunned and tripped. This completes the Tutorial Quest. |
Note: Striders are the suggested prey for this tutorial quest since they are relatively low-level and easier to stun due to their linear charge attacks.
Players can also opt to provoke Chargers or Broadheads if the areas outside the Embrace have already been unlocked.
In a combat scenario, make sure to set the ends of the Shock Wire far apart. This ensures a larger area of coverage, meaning Machines cannot easily sidestep it. It also opens up the possibility to stun multiple enemies.
Tripcaster wires can be bypassed by leaping Machines. To make quest completion easier, try to stick to Machines that have a charge attack instead of a leap.
As mentioned, Striders, Chargers, and Broadheads are some of the easier ones to stun in groups.
Alternatively, players can also opt to trip Machines while hidden. Instead of engaging in combat, look for Machines that have a consistent patrol route. In the Embrace, Watchers and Scrappers tend to have a set route.
Tag and highlight the path of your target Machine, before setting up a Shock Wire along its route. This ensures a guaranteed trip. However, do remember that stealth is slower than the method above.
