Note that this area will only be made available after exiting the Carja Fort in A Seeker At The Gates
.
Head southwest from Copper Deeps or southeast from Meridian towards the bottom of the map. You'll find large pillars of earth that house a number of machines.
Using your Focus, you'll spot another signal, represented by a pulsing purple dot, and you can follow it down towards these earth pillars. Depending on the area you enter from, there are Sawtooths that roam the area.
Enemy Type | Quantity |
---|---|
Redeye Watcher | 2 |
Longleg | 5 |
Sawtooth | 2 |
Scrapper | 1 |
Stalker | 1 |
On the northern end of this area is a cliffside that overlooks both the pillars and parts of the surrounding forest. The quickest way to deal with the machines is to take out the Redeye Watcher first, followed by the Longleg on the edge of the cliff. With them gone, you'll have more room to walk and sneak around to shoot the Longleg and Sawtooth on the Eastern side.
Climbing up the pillars, you'll encounter another Redeye Watcher and another Longleg. The watcher should be your priority as they are easier to take down, but will alert others nearby if you're caught. Once downed, head between the pillars to find the Longleg, shooting at it and hiding or using tripcaster ammo to trap the area. Just note that using explosives will alert other machines nearby.
Keep going around the structure, placing traps or stealthily destroying machines until the area is clear.
While there are no stalkers between the pillars, there are a few roaming around in the forest and they are quite easy to miss given how stealthy they are. If you see one and don't have enough ammo or aren't at a high enough level to deal with them, it's best ot leave them alone and hide.
Once you've clearned the second tier of the pillars, go to the southern side where you'll see a cliffside that sticks out from the rest. Aloy may remark on this as well, verifying that you're on the right track! By this point, all machines in this area should have been cleared so there's no need to hide .
When the Tallneck comes near, make a run for it and hop on! Just remember that climbable spots are usually marked in yellow, or can be highlighted using your Focus!
Now that the worst is over, step forward and use your spear to override the Tallneck. This will reveal a chunk of the map, along with the machine sites that you can find!
