Description | To unravel the conspiracy against her, Aloy must leave the Sacred Land of the Nora tribe - but an infestation of corrupted machines stands in her way. |
Objectives | |
---|---|
1 | Test the Override Device on a Strider. Go to the Strider Site marked on your map. Hide in Tall Grass and either wait for a Strider to approach or use Lure to call out to it. When it's close enough, override the Machine. |
2 | Talk to Varl. Varl will be at the Main Embrace Gate. Aloy will talk to him automatically. It is also during this conversation that you acquire The War-Chief's Trial quest. |
3 | Talk to Marea at Mother's Crown. Re-mount your Strider then start making your way to Mother's Crown. Speak to Marea once there. |
4 | Clear the First Corrupted Zone. The nearest Corrupted Zone to Mother's Crown will be patrolled by 3 Corrupted Grazers. Quickly dispatch of them by using Fire Arrows to blow up the Blaze Canisters on their backs. |
5 | Clear the Second Corrupted Zone. The next Corrupted Zone marked on your map will be patrolled by 3 Corrupted Watchers and 2 Corrupted Scrappers. Use stealth and Silent Strike to dispatch of them quickly and efficiently. |
6 | Go to the Carja Border Fort. Head up the snowy mountainside to get to the Carja Border Fort. You can override nearby Broadheads if you prefer riding over walking. |
7 | Kill the Corrupted Machines. This fight will have 1 Corruptor, 1 Corrupted Scrapper, and 2 Corrupted Watchers. The Corruptor and Scrapper are weak to Fire, while the Watchers can be taken down using shots to their Eyes. Deal with the small machines before tackling the largest. |
8 | Talk to the Commander of the Carja Border Fort. The Commander will thank you for helping them defend the Fort. Speak to him to unlock the rest of the base game's map. |
To reveal a large chunk of map that you'll be exploring for this quest, go and override the Devil's Thirst Tallneck. This will allow you to see how to navigate to Mother's Crown and the Corrupted Zones, safely.
Additionally, overriding a Tallneck reveals all the machine sites and Campfires for this portion of the World Map, making it easier to hunt for resources and save points as you explore.
Tallneck: Devil's Thirst Guide
Given the number of medium to large machines that now roam the wider map, it would be in the player's best interest to upgrade to a Carja Ropecaster or Carja Sharpshot Bow.
The Ropecaster allows for easier Tie Down mechanics against small to medium machines, while the Sharpshot Bow grants access to the component-shredding Tearblast Arrow ammo type.
Antidote | Effect: 100% Corruption resistance for 60 seconds. Crafting Cost: x3 Corrupted Glaze Roots |
---|
Since players will be required to clear 2 Corruption Zones and fight a Corruptor on top of that, consider crafting Antidotes using gatherable Corrupted Glaze Roots to nullify Corruption Damage.
While this does not guarantee an insta-kill, blowing up the Blaze Canisters on the back of the Corrupted Grazers will deal a significant amount of damage. Hit all three Grazers to make quick work of this Corruption Zone.
Scrappers have a scan ability that reveals your position even while hidden in Tall Grass. Since the 2 Corrupted Scrappers will trail behind the Watcher Patrols, consider taking them out stealthily to make clearing the Zone, easier.
To deal with the Corruptor quickly, use Fire Arrows to overheat it. This will reveal the Cooling Rod that you can hit and destroy, dealing massive damage to the Machine in the process.
