What is the Max Level?

Level 60 with The Frozen Wilds DLC

Horizon Zero Dawn - Level 60 Frozen Wilds

The max level in Horizon Zero Dawn is Level 60. However, this is only available if players have The Frozen Wilds DLC installed.

The level cap can be reached without having to start New Game+, as Aloy can grind enough XP just by playing a normal save.

Level 50 with the Horizon Zero Dawn Base Game

Horizon Zero Dawn - Base Game Max Level 50

Without the Frozen Wilds DLC, the base game only comes up to a max level of 50 and does include any of the Traveler Skills introduced by the expansion.

If you want to progress further than 50, consider purchasing The Frozen Wilds or grabbing a copy of the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition to raise the level cap to 60.

What are Ghost Levels?

New Game+ XP Progression at Max Level

Horizon Zero Dawn - Ghost Level Pop-Up

A Ghost Level is a new progression mechanic introduced when New Game+ released for Horizon Zero Dawn - Update 1.30.

At max level 50 or 60, XP earned during New Game+ will be recorded, allowing players to track progression in the form of Ghost Levels. 1 Ghost Level is granted for every 100,000 XP earned in New Game+.

Does Not Grant Additional Bonuses

Horizon Zero Dawn - No Added Benefits to Ghost Levels

Aside from bragging rights, continuous progression via Ghost Leveling will not offer any additional benefits. It is simply a progression tracker for those looking to play New Game+ and experience the different difficulty levels the game has to offer.
