Tutorial: Ropecaster Quest Information

How to Acquire	Purchase any type of Ropecaster from a Merchant.
Objectives	Tie Down 3 small machines.
Recommended Level	8
Rewards	1330 XP
Description	You have acquired a powerful new weapon, the Ropecaster, capable of firing new ammunition types. This combat challenge will help you learn its utility and hone your skills.

How to Complete

1	Head over to any Watcher or Strider Site and scope out the area for Watchers.
2	Equip the Ropecaster (can be any rarity) and select the Tie Rope ammunition.
3	Get in range of a Watcher and shoot twice to tie it down. Rare and Very Rare versions of the Ropecaster will only need one shot. Note: Mind your aim before firing. Missed shots, especially on higher difficulties, will cost a lot of resources to re-craft.
4	Tie Down 2 more Watchers to complete this Tutorial Quest. Players do not need to kill the machines to progress the quest tally.

Tips & Strategies

Mind the Rope Delay when Shooting

Depending on how erratic the Machine moves, the Ropecaster will have a slight hit delay when fired. In order to avoid wasting precious ammunition, pay attention to the Watcher's movement before shooting.

Players can opt to approach the targeted Machine stealthily, hiding behind Tall Grass to ensure that the first shot will always hit.

Watch the Tie Down Indicator

A blue indicator with a rope icon will appear above Machines hit by a Ropecaster shot. This shows how many more shots are needed to tie the Machine down. Getting it to a full blue circle will tie the Machine down.

Note: A melee hit using Aloy's spear will release the Machine even if the indicator still displays a full stun duration.
